4 Good-Bad Directions/Eight House Suitability (Zai Yun)

Learn whether a house is suitable to you or not

  1. Started by tn,

Dear Ngo Tam, I am not sure if you have followed the steps shown under this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm if not, do use this link. For the garage, (protusion) you should `ignore' this from your layout plan. Next mark the centre of the house layout plan to find the centre of the house. After this, stand at the centre of the house and from here use your ordinary compass to find the direction of your main entrance door. For an `L' shaped house, one can even `split' the two L shaped into two rectangles. If you are still unclear about this, you can go to the above link under " Step 5 - Determine the Centre of your house to see graphic illustrations. The graphic i…

Dear Barbara, Thanks for your kind words. Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'eight-house' suppressed suppressed> Date: Sunday, April 18, 1999 1:51 AM Subject: Directions and Room Use You can place the filing cabinets at the true North. but I do not recommend use of miror at the NW and NE points as the intangible forces cannot be activated this way. The only way is to sit closer to the good intangible force location. Mirrors if used wrongly can `bounce' back double the bad luck so becareful here. As I mentioned, the Eight House only looks at how suitable are you to your home but it does not take into account whether …

Dear Emilio, Under the Eight House Theory, frankly there is not much you can do if your bedroom is located in the Death area. The only way is to sleep close to the prosperity sector (if possible) or any other good intangible force. As for the main entrance door area in the `irritation' area: 1. The house is under the Eight House Theory considered an unsuitable house. But is is not as bad as having the death or disaster line located at this area. If so, the house would be considered a very unsuitable house. 2. As the main entrance is located at the South-West or we call this the devil's backdoor. This location is considered a YIN location and avoid planting too many plants…

Dear Peter, Please read below:- ----- Original Message ----- From: Listmanager To: Sent: Wednesday, August 04, 1999 12:58 PM Subject: Wrong calculation I am assuming that you 2 Feb 1969 is your Western Date of Birth Right? This means that your Lunar Date of Birth is year 1968, month 12, day 16. So your calculation is:- 1 + 9 + 6+ 8 = 24 2 + 4 = 6 Male so 11 - 6 = 5 Unless you tell me your date of birth is 2 Feb 1969 Lunar Date of Brith then your calculation is:- 1 + 9 + 6 + 9 = 25 2 + 5 = 7 Male so 11 - 7 = 4 Eight House theory uses Lunar Calendar and not Western Calendar to deduce the Kua. 6. Started by cash,

Dear Lingling, 1. The importance of the Eight House Theory is to look at:- a. How suitable a person to the house. If the main door is located at the Death or Disaster sector of the breadwinner this is where the house is the least suitable to the breadwinner. b. It is good to spent time at locations that are auspicious in the house e.g. as you had mentioned that this is where your living room is located. c. It is good to have auspicious sectors in the bedroom. As we also spent some of our time there. d. It is used to look at personal best directions e.g. sitting at a good location and facing an auspicious directions. Other than that, this theory has its limitations. It is …

  7. Started by yxw1,

Dear Anon, Under the Eight House Theory, since you are an East House person, South is considered your Prosperity Section. Here, in terms of how suitable are to your house, since it is your prosperity sector, this house is considered suitable to you (especially if you are the breadwinner). However, it is best to check which intangible force is located at your bedroom area. Where best it should also be one of your good sectors. Other than knowing the above, you may have to consider using other theories such as the Flying Star to analyse the birth chart of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  8. Started by carinatien,

Dear Carina, You have to align your North to South Eight House Template and superimpose this to the North to South of your house layout plan. Ref step by step guide: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mark, 1. A neutral colour such as white would be acceptable to keep the house cum office bright especially if you are using it for `white' collar work. 2. You can use the free Flying Star house number at www.geomancy-online.com to check the Flying Star of the second storey. 3. If you have a rough sketch of the U shaped, you can always upload under the `Conference for Attachment'. And if possible the description of the slope. Ideally, a `U' shaped house cum office has an imbalanced Qi. Ideal shape is (if possible, square or rectangle). But I believe, there could be a constrain for this. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  10. Started by jhqpinto1,

Dear Pinto, 1. The Eight House is but only one of the many considerations in Feng Shui. 2. Under this theory, it is best to avoid staying long in an inauspicious sector. Nothing much really can be done, if one continues to be at this sector unless one moves away. One consolation is that the `Spook' is still not as bad as the `death or disaster' sector. Usually, if one does not feel sick all the time or generally, things are `ok', then, one do not really need to use any other Feng Shui theories to further look at the house. It would be different if one is constantly sick etc.. Then, the recommendation is to do a through Feng Shui audit. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. The Eight House theory is really meant to find out how `suitable' the house is to a person. 2. It also, is considered good to spent more time at an auspicious sector. And as a bonus, it would be nice to sleep or work facing a good direction. 3. Thus, in my opinion, it is not correct to link the above with the placement of a fountain or water feature. 4. One has also to question the motive of placing a water feature. Is it because you read that it is aupicious to have a water feature that you `suddenly' decide not only to have one but to have two: One inside the house and the other outside your house? 5. Based on `Trial and Error' Feng Shui if you feel that …

Dear Lance, 1. Although the Eight House Theory is one of the three main Feng Shui theories, it should be given less priority over: 2. How they ar Ranked 1 Shapes and Form 2 Flying Star 3 Eight House 3. If you can see the above, Eight House should be ranked after good Shapes and Form. 4. For Flying Star, it depends on your level of participation or non-participation. If one wants to utilise Flying Star, then, try to do a Chart and check for any imbalances. 5. The main concern under Flying Star are: sickness and misforune sectors. 6. If there are such sectors and if these sectors are imbalance, priority should go to `curing' these imbalances, FIRST. 7. Majority of …

Dear Peter, 1. In this website and all modules, please take the compass direction of the main entrance door by standing at the centre of the house and look at the compass to determine the direction of the main entrance. 2. In this site, we do not recommend standing at the main entrance looking outside to take the compass direction of the main entrance. If you are still in doubt, please click on this URL to find out on the proper method of taking a compass reading: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Luigi Pasini, Basically you should use the true elements form the Pillars of Destiny. This means your girlfriend is a Fire. The Gua Number should be used as a form of luck number or more for your good and bad directions for bed position, work position, and for bedrooms and finding a "suitable" house for you etc. Hope that helps. Annette, 1. Thanks for sharing with all of us your personal experience with `shattered glass'. 2. Apologise if this information, I about to mention may not appeal to everyone.. Since, it relates to an experience with `shattered glass'... Here goes... 3. In Yin Feng Shui (or FS for the dead); it is very unlucky to have glass smashed towards the face of the dead. This may cause unfortunate accidents or bad luck for the relatives (immediate family). 4. Many coffins today have a glass panel so that loved ones/relatives or friends can view the dead prior to the burial. Sometimes, the glass panel was not removed or part of the casket and during transport to burial site or bur…

Dear Anon, Under the Eight House Theory, one concept is that one should spent time at one's favourable sector. The other concept is that priority should be given to firstly spending time at a good sector and after this is satisfied; then one should consider i.e. sleeping facing a good direction. If there is not much choice; you may have to sleep on the East. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Stanley, 1. You have asked a very interesting question. In the past, I have mentioned that both `parties' are correct. Only the way it is interpreted. Please see below:- 2. I can certainly confirm that a `Sun' type of house has it's facing at the South-East. In fact, there is nothing wrong with both interpretations i.e. at this site and in Lillian Too's book. The description used here is based on a person using an ordinary compass (North-South compass). While what Lillian Too described is based on the `original' South-North model i.e. usually based on the Luopan. 3. Therefore, I feel that neither parties are wrong in this situation. 3. What is more important here is…

The Feng Shui we practise here may need some patience and if you have the time; can go thru some of the messages. 4. To help you further, if you know to take compass readings of the centre-point to the main door, we would be most happy to provide you with Free Paid Professional Reports for you and your family. 5. However, as mentioned earlier, since we are not physically present at your home to do an audit, you may have to try to understand key concepts and especially the advise later in the various reports…

Dear Anon, If you have the time, do login to the website and go to the conference: " Photo Tours of Interest (with pictures) " and look for Part I, Part II and Part III of the various `models Ba Gua mirror. Alternatively, use the SEARCH feature in this forum to do a quick search instead. In the above resources, I have taken pictures and also mentioned majority types of Ba Gua mirror especially on their use. Most of the Ba Gua's available in the above resources would represent the mainstream of the most recent types of Ba Gua mirrors and their variants. If you have a picture, feel free to post it as an attachment to this forum. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Yang Ming, You can follow the method suggested under this URL:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm Once you had taken the North to South / East to West (basically the four walls) of the house, you can with the use of a protractor; (need to purchase an inexpensive one) and find the direction of the door. Since the deviation is 15 degrees interval, this should be not difficult in a house. Please go thru the attached URL closely. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. The 4 good / bad directions or commonly known as Eight House Theory and the Flying Star Feng Shui both belong to the Compass School of Feng Shui. 2. The difference is that the 4 good directions concept is personalised to an individual i.e. good or bad directions. 3. While the Flying Star Feng Shui looks at the birth chart of the house. Here, under the Flying Star chart of a house, if the house as imbalances, these imbalances should be cured or neutralised. And this is distinct from a peron's good or bad direction. For example, a sector can be the `death' sector of a person. And for example, this sector also has bad Flying Stars e.g. #5 misfortune, sickness …

Dear Scott, Thanks for sharing with all of us, your personal views on this matter. The first thing that strikes my mind is the motto for Discovery Channel's endangered species: "If the buying stops, the killing can". We can draw a parallel, to the current situation with such "FS practises". "If the GREED stops, the buying can". But at last, unfortunately, these people prey on our "GREED" to succeed and also portray a certain mystic of buying such commercial products". As the saying goes: "There will always be fools, to fill many shoes!" Personally, a single web-site is like a `drop' in the ocean. And unfortunately, the sale of products are simply too great a profit to mi…

Dear Leng, In practice or in a practical world, it all boils down to "How can we maximise -- marks in our Feng Shui examinations". Thus, every little area counts. thus, things like how well a house suit us, how many major leaks (if any) can or cannot be fixed etc... Therefore, we cannot only simply eat and sleep on Flying star Feng Shui alone. But it depends on the wider picture - external environment that our home is in.

  25. Started by myfs_105697,

Dear Brenda, No. In whatever age, one should simply stick to the actual compass direction. Therefore, in my opinion, there is no truth to add 20 degrees just for the age of 8. Furthermore, why add 20 degrees? 1 degree per year. Warmest Regards, Cecil
