I hope you can help me. I need to know what to do when my husband is a South East house while I am a North East house in Eight House Feng Shui. Please let me explain a few things how I think they appear according to the Eight House chart: We want to buy this condominium unit. Our unit's front door will face North. For my husband, this is his Prosperity area. It is my Spook area. (Also, the condominium building's door faces South.) Our living room is South West - South, his Health and Spook area and my Prosperity and disaster area. Our bedroom is East - Southeast, his Longevity and Excellent area, while being my Irritation and Death area. Our bathroom is actually an exten…

  6. Started by ECWES,

Dear Linda, 1. Usually, it is important to determine who is the `breadwinner' i.e. the person who earns the most money. If this is `clear-cut'; then it would be best if we are using the Eight House, to try to find a house that best suits this person. 2. If both partners are earning equally, then you should try to find a suitable house where: 2.1 if possible the death/disaster intangible force does not fall at the main entrance or the bedroom. It is acceptable still to have other intangible forces e.g. irritation at the main entrance door. 2.2 Thus look at the main entrance and especially the bedroom. Other than that, it is equally important to find a good home with good …

Dear Peter, 1. In this website and all modules, please take the compass direction of the main entrance door by standing at the centre of the house and look at the compass to determine the direction of the main entrance. 2. In this site, we do not recommend standing at the main entrance looking outside to take the compass direction of the main entrance. If you are still in doubt, please click on this URL to find out on the proper method of taking a compass reading: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Lance, 1. Although the Eight House Theory is one of the three main Feng Shui theories, it should be given less priority over: 2. How they ar Ranked 1 Shapes and Form 2 Flying Star 3 Eight House 3. If you can see the above, Eight House should be ranked after good Shapes and Form. 4. For Flying Star, it depends on your level of participation or non-participation. If one wants to utilise Flying Star, then, try to do a Chart and check for any imbalances. 5. The main concern under Flying Star are: sickness and misforune sectors. 6. If there are such sectors and if these sectors are imbalance, priority should go to `curing' these imbalances, FIRST. 7. Majority of …

Dear Anon, 1. The Eight House theory is really meant to find out how `suitable' the house is to a person. 2. It also, is considered good to spent more time at an auspicious sector. And as a bonus, it would be nice to sleep or work facing a good direction. 3. Thus, in my opinion, it is not correct to link the above with the placement of a fountain or water feature. 4. One has also to question the motive of placing a water feature. Is it because you read that it is aupicious to have a water feature that you `suddenly' decide not only to have one but to have two: One inside the house and the other outside your house? 5. Based on `Trial and Error' Feng Shui if you feel that …

  10. Started by jhqpinto1,

Dear Pinto, 1. The Eight House is but only one of the many considerations in Feng Shui. 2. Under this theory, it is best to avoid staying long in an inauspicious sector. Nothing much really can be done, if one continues to be at this sector unless one moves away. One consolation is that the `Spook' is still not as bad as the `death or disaster' sector. Usually, if one does not feel sick all the time or generally, things are `ok', then, one do not really need to use any other Feng Shui theories to further look at the house. It would be different if one is constantly sick etc.. Then, the recommendation is to do a through Feng Shui audit. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mark, 1. A neutral colour such as white would be acceptable to keep the house cum office bright especially if you are using it for `white' collar work. 2. You can use the free Flying Star house number at www.geomancy-online.com to check the Flying Star of the second storey. 3. If you have a rough sketch of the U shaped, you can always upload under the `Conference for Attachment'. And if possible the description of the slope. Ideally, a `U' shaped house cum office has an imbalanced Qi. Ideal shape is (if possible, square or rectangle). But I believe, there could be a constrain for this. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Under the Eight House Theory, since you are an East House person, South is considered your Prosperity Section. Here, in terms of how suitable are to your house, since it is your prosperity sector, this house is considered suitable to you (especially if you are the breadwinner). However, it is best to check which intangible force is located at your bedroom area. Where best it should also be one of your good sectors. Other than knowing the above, you may have to consider using other theories such as the Flying Star to analyse the birth chart of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cecil, The house that I live is a duplex that originally was a single house with several rooms added on to it. My side of it is very irregularly shaped. When I divide it into nine equal squares, most of the South section is in the other half of the duplex. Also, because of the odd shape, the North West section is also very small. I've read in some Fung Shui books that I can fill in a missing section by placing the element of that sector on the outside of the house. Unfortunately, I can't do that because, the South sector is in the other half of the duplex and belongs to the other people living there. The North West section has a house with a corner pointing at my …

Dear Lingling, 1. The importance of the Eight House Theory is to look at:- a. How suitable a person to the house. If the main door is located at the Death or Disaster sector of the breadwinner this is where the house is the least suitable to the breadwinner. b. It is good to spent time at locations that are auspicious in the house e.g. as you had mentioned that this is where your living room is located. c. It is good to have auspicious sectors in the bedroom. As we also spent some of our time there. d. It is used to look at personal best directions e.g. sitting at a good location and facing an auspicious directions. Other than that, this theory has its limitations. It is …

Dear Cecil, Thank you for answering my questions; however, your answer rose other curiosities. In my previous message I described my main entrance: upon entering there is a narrow staircase at the end of which I enter the living space at my left. Now, according to what you have written, it seems to me that you believe that the main entrance is actually the opening at the top of the staircase and not the door at the bottom of the staircase(it's a 2nd floor apt). Would that be true? Plus, is the position of the main door determined by the actual cardinal point it faces or by the position it is located within the eight house theory square(sorry if confusing)? I also read tha…

Dear Peter, Please read below:- ----- Original Message ----- From: Listmanager To: Sent: Wednesday, August 04, 1999 12:58 PM Subject: Wrong calculation I am assuming that you 2 Feb 1969 is your Western Date of Birth Right? This means that your Lunar Date of Birth is year 1968, month 12, day 16. So your calculation is:- 1 + 9 + 6+ 8 = 24 2 + 4 = 6 Male so 11 - 6 = 5 Unless you tell me your date of birth is 2 Feb 1969 Lunar Date of Brith then your calculation is:- 1 + 9 + 6 + 9 = 25 2 + 5 = 7 Male so 11 - 7 = 4 Eight House theory uses Lunar Calendar and not Western Calendar to deduce the Kua. Dear Emilio, Under the Eight House Theory, frankly there is not much you can do if your bedroom is located in the Death area. The only way is to sleep close to the prosperity sector (if possible) or any other good intangible force. As for the main entrance door area in the `irritation' area: 1. The house is under the Eight House Theory considered an unsuitable house. But is is not as bad as having the death or disaster line located at this area. If so, the house would be considered a very unsuitable house. 2. As the main entrance is located at the South-West or we call this the devil's backdoor. This location is considered a YIN location and avoid planting too many plants…

Dear Barbara, Further to my earlier reply, it would be best to get books that try to simply Feng Shui theories rather than to `impress' its readers by using powerful terms. The simplier the explanation, the better. Here, there is less likely for the information to be mis-interpreted. Frankly, read books from authors you are comfortable in. If the theory is the same as the other book, for example the Eight House Theory is very simple, try to `stick' to the method used to derive the answer. But if other books are better written in other areas, then utilize the information. This method, would reduce the confusion we now have with so many books being `churned out' daily. Rece…

  24. This is an interesting question sent in by Glyn:- " I notice that Lillian Too and you differ or am I wrong. On reviewing an eight house chart, your website states that for this particular person W= prosperity,NW = Excellent. However, she considers W = Excellent (Sheng Chi) and that the front door should be in that area and that Excellent (Fu Wei) is the least auspicious of the four good sectors. Interesting. " This is the reply from Robert:- Hmm. Do you know that traditional Eight House Theory (or in Chinese San Yuan Di Li - talking about Zai Yun), states that whichever is your front door direction is actually considered your Fu Wei, it is the basics of where the rest of …

Dear Ngo Tam, I am not sure if you have followed the steps shown under this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm if not, do use this link. For the garage, (protusion) you should `ignore' this from your layout plan. Next mark the centre of the house layout plan to find the centre of the house. After this, stand at the centre of the house and from here use your ordinary compass to find the direction of your main entrance door. For an `L' shaped house, one can even `split' the two L shaped into two rectangles. If you are still unclear about this, you can go to the above link under " Step 5 - Determine the Centre of your house to see graphic illustrations. The graphic i…
