In Interior Design, many Chinese prefer not to use circle or circular designs for just anything e.g. cabinet doors; feature walls and even false ceilings with "holes" in it... P.S. Luckliy, this design is in a public toilet (Depot Heights Shopping Complex)

Dear All, 1. In a house hunting effort, a client asked me to comment on this layout plan as they were really interested in this apartment. 2. This is because, the owners are selling it at a very attractive price - very much below valuation. 3. Fortunately, they had asked for a layout plan and asked for an opinion on it. 4. This house is similar to the sketch provided in the attached: slopingsidewall1.gif 5. This apartment can be considered as entrapped or sandwiched in the block of flat. There is a huge missing corner. 6. Such an entrapped house implies: financial distress. True enough, the current owners were forced to sell the house because of financial problems. In add…

Have you ever wondered why nowadays many new Feng Shui sites uses the word " Feng Shui" in them? While Geomancy.net continues to use domain names without the words " Feng Shui " in them? Why did Geomancy.Net not also use the term Feng Shui? Well, let me share with you why this came about:- When we first wanted to get a domain name for this website, even in 1997, nearly all good domain names were already registered or taken up and so happen that Geomancy.net was still available. Dear Users, This issue is about Feng Shui and Business 1. In my opinion, Singapore can be considered a country of intellects and majority are salaried workers. Working for MNCs or companies. Perhaps, some feel that it was due to the education system that many have gone thru as far back as the 1960's. This was because Singapore had no choice but to struggle with the bread and butter issues of housing and finding jobs. 2. Several years back several businessmen approached me to Feng Shui a new business: Chains selling bubble tea. 3. I refused to have anything to do with Feng Shui for such premises, simply because, such business models are simply not sound. 4. At that time a…

1. In my many encounters with various clients: parents with young children and parents with teenagers:- 1.1. In this attachment; see how teenagers and young children view their world especially that of their home. 1.2. For example; young children are very innocent and think differently from us adults and teenagers. In this attachment; there are quite alot of children be it timid or love their parents madly (who does not!): If they were given their say; some would position their bed-heads close to the bedroom door: so that they can be 'as close" to their parents as possible. 1.3. If can no longer sleep with you; they want to phsycially sleep with their heads and eye…

Nowadays, few go for such designs. But, the photos shows : 1. The partition panel uses traditional motifs. 2. Although some don't like the motifs e.g. circle enveloping a hexagram; these are still acceptable "safe" motifs or designs or patterns in a home

Dear All, 1. This concept is not a modern invention. 2. In the past, I had written in this forum about this concept. 3. The concept: If one look out of a child's bedroom and a distance away, on the right side; if there is a structure i.e. looks like a profile of e.g. a pagoda or high tension wire (note that this is a distance away); this is considered auspicious. Here, it implies that there will be `scholars' or children will do exceptionally well in their studies. 4. In Hong Kong, many Feng Shui practitioners have advised their clients to place a pagoda figurine on their children's study table. Please refer to attached illustration. 5. Here, the pagoda figurine can be e.…

Nowadays, developers are hearing their clients. As many clients feed-back to the developer that under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, it is considered inauspicious to have the main entrance door directly facing a toilet in this SOHO project. Well, guess what! The developer has listened and will in fact, make minor changes; which in Shapes and Forms Feng Shui a world of difference, here....

Always ask yourself, first. Has this to do with pure common sense? Rather than rubber-stamp it as pure Feng Shui? As this is a bungalow house and it's own compound. Some owners decide to plant a prickly plant at strategic locations like corner of the home to deter would-be thieves.

1. Common sense again prevails when selecting dining table(s). 2. Often someone would lean against a dining table or place food sometimes in a unbalanced way on a dining table. 3. This is the rational why it is best to have four legs at all four corners of a dining table. 4. However, the photos shows another table legs design that says " I also have 4 (extended) legs ".

1. In an off-site Feng Shui audit; where the block of flat is elongated or may have several stacks that face different directions; 2. With the help or assistance of the owner (or to be new owner); be it a new or resale flat; identify which is the correct orientation of the layout plan to the siteplan. 3. In this example, the attached illustration was prepared. And the owner is asked to check which orientation is correct. And if possible, he/she could outline the unit onto the siteplan. (Not a must do, thou).

Can I check. If my fridge can be seen from the main door as it's an open concept kitchen. Does it pose an issue? 1. This is part of open concept. It is not threatening. You should expect it. 2. Contrary to some others, a regular fridge when closed is surrounded by mostly metal = a metal box. And such a fridge is not issue even if seen from the main door. 3. However, it may make a difference if perhaps, the fridge has a water and/or ice dispenser on one of it's doors. 4. Or instead a wine fridge where the front door is virtually a see thru glass piece. 5. If one "insists" of having an open concept kitchen, something has to give. 6. Fortunately…

Hi Cecil; For the main wooden door, is there any particular dimension like height or width that we need to watch out for?For the sliding or folding door at the patio to the living room, is the number of of door panels important? Reply: For the main door; in the past 1 room / 3 bedrooms and 4 & 5 bedrooms HDB's around the 1970's to early 1980's have door openings at 32". And plus the side frames it is a total of 35" If you want to tailor made a single door (or single with extra panel) then since the extra panel is rarely opened; the big door should range between 32" up to max of 35". Very hard to include the door frame if wood frame is used. (HDB usually use the thinne…

1. I have always trained my mind to ask this question: "Has common sense to do with this question?" 2. In my opinion, you would be pleasantly surprised to learn that many seemingly Feng Shui or even Grand Mother's tales are rooted in pure common sense! 3. Currently, it is even an uphill task for me to try to collate many so called Feng Shui or Feng Shui related questions into one link. 4. Where it is pure common sense that leads to some thinking that it is some higher form such as a Feng Shui concept or theory! 5. The next time, you try to have a paradiym shift by asking the question: "It is just pure common sense?" You will be pleasantly surprised, when you figure out pu…

You have heard the most recent term Kindergarten Feng Shui, another interesting description is called Credit Card Feng Shui. I refer to this interesting term as " Purchasing " on credit. In Feng Shui instead, it is like wanting to get auspiciousness or good luck on CREDIT. Does this sound familiar? Warmest Regards, Cecil

Under symbolism in Feng Shui; it is best not to have a "split" directly in the middle of just any "decorative" piece. If one looks carefully in this painting, one can see that it was made up of two paintings. And the line in the middle can directly be seen. (This is considered less than ideal)... Fortunately, this is very rare...
