When we discuss fire element, usually, lighting is not taken into consideration in this caution note! Although Red is considered an auspicious colour, the following need to be taken into consideration:- If one is not sure, or had not properly consulted a Feng Shui practitioner, it is best not to use fire (red, pink or purple) liberally because: 1. Fire element will fuel or help earth element. (For those who are aware of Flying Star Feng Shui, it will further fuel bad earth e.g. #2 sickness or #5 misfortune, sickness. 2. Fire element is also a destroyer or the metal element especially if it is used as a cure. Besides, this, there are more considerations with regards to fir…

1. Can Condominium Apartments facing buildings take advantage of water positions? Yes and No. 2. For condominum units it would normally not be advantages to take up units at ground level to the 3rd level as Qi flow will normally not be vibrant. Please that this is just an average statement and does not take into account each individual site or location. 3. For condominium units, it is best to take up floors at the middle to one unit before the top unit. 4. Such condominium apartments level 4 or more by themselves have `virtual water' element and normally may not be able to take advantage of `pool' water. 5. The top or highest floor is not advised because usually after sev…

Apologise for the "misleading" title of this tip. Actually, this is a quote from Singapore's Minister of State (Trade and Industry and Foreign Affairs), Mr Raymond Lim. " I think one of our problems is that we are very impatient people and that it is the instant tree approach. You know, in Singapore, when you want to have a tree, you don't sort of grow it slowly. Just take a tree and plant it and get an instant tree" Mr Raymond Lim Many of us can draw a parallel, in " Fast Food Feng Shui "! How true his statement for everyone in the world indeed! Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Subject: How to properly place a pair of Chinese Stone Lions We have seen many pictures of buildings with the Lion figurines. In many of the ancient Chinese buildings, one hardly notice that:- 1. The Male Lion 1.1 This Lion sits on the left side of the building. 1.2 The Male Lion will have it's mouth open. Showing in traditional Chinese society, MALE is `dominant'. 1.3 It is holding a ball. 2. The Female Lion 2.1 It sits on the right side of the building. 2.2 It has it's mouth closed. Here, the FEMALE is considered submissive. 2.3 The Female Lion holds a lion cub. You can view the pair of MALE and FEMALE lion under this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/myp…

Dear All, It is very common to use a pair of Lions (on both sides of the main entrance or gate) of many Chinese buildings. Under the Five elements concept, Lions are considered as of the Metal element. If you have read some of the messages in the forum, Metal element is overall, a good element as opposed to the use of `Earth' or `Wood'. Where in certain circumstances, these two elements i.e. Earth and Wood would not be suitable. As they may cause additional inauspiciousness. Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank is indeed `famous' for using a pair of Bronze Lions on each side of many of their buildings. Lions made of concrete and white are still considered as Metal element. Since …

Dear All, Besides accessing the exterior of the building (the environment, the site and the building/interior), for business: 1. Sole Proprietorship/Partnerships/Private Ltd Companies The date/time of birth of the Sole Proprietor/Partners are also looked at. 2. Public Listed Companies Often, in addition to accesing the exterior and interior of the building, the assessment is also made with reference to the I-Ching. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear All, According to the principles of Shapes and Form Feng Shui, it is deemed inauspicious to have a swimming pool or pond located on the western side of a house. This is due to the fact that the west side is linked to the white tiger, and having a pool in that area is akin to exposing the 'mouth' of the white tiger. It is advised against doing so, as a hungry tiger symbolizes financial loss or potential disasters. Warmest Regards, Cecil

The Eight House concept is "as what it is". It is nice-to face one's good direction. BUT if can't; than too bad... Either you face your good directions or you cannot. It is like ebony and ivory: BLACK or WHITE no in-betweens, here.

Dear All, 1. I have often been asked the question: My new home/apartment was built on land that was used to be a burial site. Is this inauspicious? In my opinion, I would say " It depends ". Here are some of my thoughts on this: a. If you are staying in Singapore; in the past, many of the sites chosen for burial of loved ones are the choicest sites in Singapore! Here, there is an inherent belief that when one bury's one's ancestors in good sites; it will bring forth goodluck to the decendants of the dead. b. If you are staying in any other country which has Chinese cemeteries, most likely it has been feng shuied many (many years) back and these sites should be excellent…

Dear All, The Tropica, Singapore Case Study of Applied Feng Shui in action at the Tropica Condominium. URL: http://www.geomancy.net/review/tropica/index.htm 1. The above condominium is a good example of macro Feng Shui. 2. Feng Shui is not just about our little `private' corner i.e. for those staying in an apartment; but rather the bigger picture also of the landscape, the site and the apartment blocks. 3. Some sites also take advantage of what we refer to as the beneficial effects of "negative ions" to our health. For example in the above case study, the water course at the frontage of this condominum project has a river that flows from auspiciously from west to east t…

The Ming Tang or semi-circular water positions is again a protective form of Feng Shui. And used more by traditional Feng Shiu practitioners. Picture below showing, the semi-circular water position radiating outwards of the Hyatt Hotel. Hyatt Hotel, strongly uses black (representing water element) in the interior decor. There is also a vibrant water fountain at the car park lobby area. Water is used extensively in this building. And it also employs the Yin and Yang concept of water (YIN) pouring out of rocks (YANG). This is typical of the type of concept used by Chinese monks when asked to Feng Shui a site.

Office Warming (like Home warming) is considered an essential part in bringing good Qi and luck for the occupants in the new premises. Another major consideration (or superstition) is to `ward' off evil spirits. 1. First, an auspicious day and time is chosen for the move. If one does not consult a FS practitioner, than a good date is usually the 15th day of each lunar month. up. (Full moon). 2. On that day, all windows, openings, grilles or opening in the walls and if there is skylight into the building, it has to be be covered up e.g. with black paper. The duration of this `black-out' is for an hour before the Office Warming Starts. 3. Make sure that all electrical light…

Many of us are already aware of the various types of "metal" element cures such as: 1. metal windchimes 2. grandfather pendulium clock 3. 6 iching coins string together with a red string and some comes with a red tassle. 4. Personalised copper ruler (sold by some FS practitioners at a marked up price.) Which is still valid as it is still considered as a metal cure. So, what about the use of "metal in salt"? Here, some FS practitioners advice placing 6 iching coins in a container especially a glass container and add water / salt to this combination. Is this valid? Well I personally feel that this is more of a Western practise rather than in the East. It is still valid to d…

Another `secret' ingredient in Feng Shui is the application of Shapes and Forum to provide us a quantum leap. This `secret ingredient' is hard to `apply' for many people. Basically, it is about using Shapes and Form to find the dragon vein i.e. a location where houses or office can accumulate wealth. What an expert FS practitioner does is to do an environmental scanning of the landscape and site/home/office and see if the overall site/home/office can retain "wealth". It can be a site where it is `blessed' with good overall Shapes and Form that allows `wealth' to be retained. It usually takes a keen eye to spot these. Usually, those specialising in or are experts of Shapes…

This is the standard way we understand of the effect of a building at a `T-junction'. This layout either for a One-way or Two-way road where traffic flows towards the house is inauspicious due to Sha Qi.

Dear Elena, This is an illustration of a `Four combination house' which comprises two Sets of `Two houses' which are out of balance:- Please see below:- Yes, you are correct. One cannot place a water feature on a public road in front of such houses. Thus, this is overall considered a `bad layout'. To lessen the blow, it is utmost important for the main door to be `protected'. Another method is to place a water feature (if there is sufficient space in the frontage of each house to balance the house. This should reduce the `impact' for a specific house but not for it's neighbours unless they do the same. Another method most commonly used is to use the Ba Gua mirror (…

I am interested in finding out how to apply your Plus Equilibrium Theory to a cul de sac. As FS practice, I have been walking around my new neighborhood and noticed quite a few cul de sacs in the blocks nearby. How do you put a water feature on a public road in front of the houses? I avoiding buying a house on a cul de sac because I wasn't clear on the FS rules governing such configurations. When in doubt, don't buy it. Thank you.

1. Whenever you have three houses facing each other, it is best to balance this with a third house or a water position. 2. The Plus Equilbrium ensures that four houses are always facing each other or three houses and a water position forms a `PLUS' sign. This is considered an auspicious layout. Here goes:

What has Quantum Leap has to do with Feng Shui? For those who is considered having an average but generally smooth life:- If you have been staying in the same house for a few years to many years. Do not expect to see a quantum leap in major improvements. For example, if you life is pretty normal, staying in the house, do not expect that Feng Shui can provide you with the Quantum Leap to riches and monetary wealth. However, if one has been plagued with `problems' especially in health, misfortune, can utilize Feng Shui. What is the morale of the story? Since, one may not expect to see a Quantum Leap, so do we put in so much effort, money and time to gain only Marginal retu…

If you need to unwind or once awhile, find something `entertaining' on "Feng Shui" do log on to the only newsgroup on Feng Shui. Point your newsgroup reader to: alt.chinese.fengshui I find it quite amusing, just for relaxation when I occassionally need to `unwind' or for a good laugh:) Unfortunately, there is too much Sha Qi from it. So, do so once a while! Sad to say, the newsgroup has gone to the dogs, entertainers and actors. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Overall, one of the purpose of the Pillars of Destiny is to find out generally are we blessed? Enjoy good life or are we destined to lead an average life or worse a "dog's" life. Some of us forgot that `wealth' does not necessarily mean money. For those who are blessed with money, will no matter how, enjoy wealth. The Limiting Factor (c) Cecil Lee For those of us who are "just average" and need to work to survive or work hard should accept the fact. If one looks at the Pillars of Destiny, majority of us fall under an average life. So no matter how much we try to chase after wealth (money) it is elusive. Is it worth it to go on forever chasing the `elusive' wealth right …
