1. There is NO right or wrong answers for this poll. 2. Objective of this poll: It would be interesting to find out how many of us think of this issue. View Current Poll Results [Below, Cross-posted from the Chinese Culture forum] There are two versions to the legend of the Three-legged toad:- 1. 1. Under symbolism in Feng Shui, it is less than ideal to have a vertical joint-or-split-line exactly where the TV is mounted (which splits the TV exactly into half):- The red line shows clearly the split:- 2. This is because a piece of Formica laminate has a maximum length and width. And most important is that there is no one large piece. 2.1. Therefore nowadays with the feature wall covering more than 4 feet by 8 feet, someone there will always a joint between two pieces of Formica laminate. 3. If so, insists on having vertical joint-lines as shown, below:-

Under symbolism in Feng Shui; it is best not to have a "split" directly in the middle of just any "decorative" piece. If one looks carefully in this painting, one can see that it was made up of two paintings. And the line in the middle can directly be seen. (This is considered less than ideal)... Fortunately, this is very rare...

In Interior Design, many Chinese prefer not to use circle or circular designs for just anything e.g. cabinet doors; feature walls and even false ceilings with "holes" in it... P.S. Luckliy, this design is in a public toilet (Depot Heights Shopping Complex)

In reference to my previous comments, I believe there may be a practical "downside" to using a curtain to cover the toilet door. This downside primarily relates to issues of effort or laziness and hygiene. Some individuals install a curtain and subsequently forget about it! (Install and forget). After a few weeks, if the curtains are not changed regularly, they could become a breeding ground for germs. Just imagine your attractive face, whether masculine or feminine, coming into contact with those curtains... It is possible to transfer numerous germs from the curtains to your lovely face! If you are uncomfortable with this situation, it may b…

Dear Chris, Please see below. -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'feng-shui-tips' suppressed 'feng-shui-tips' suppressed> Date: Wednesday, April 21, 1999 4:12 PM Subject: Take reference from where? Thanks for highlighting this interesting question. 1. I believe, some of the authors or practioners are not Singaporeans are not aware of the concept of HDB flats. Here the confusion may arise. This is because, first of all Feng Shui can be applied at a very macro level e.g. to assess the location of a city and building. Therefore, here, I feel the confusion may thus arise. It is not wrong to apply Feng Shui assessment to a whole building or…

For some, it can be quite a nightmare taking compass readings as most built up areas have lots of embedded re-inforced steel bars - that will often cause the readings to differ greatly from various locations within a premises. Nowadays, especially in Singapore, which is close to the equator, the True north and magnetic north is the closest; one may consider using a tool like electronic maps from sites like: onemap.sg which uses the official govt. survey maps. Another useful tool is to purchase a good quality protractor. As all street maps both paper version and electronic automatically shows a layout in relation to North-South, try to look for the sitemap of the building.…

Question: "Dear Master Cecil Lee, Hi Master Cecil Lee, sorry to disturb you. I heard from my Chinese friend it is no good to move to the new house in September,is it true? because am planning to move in the month of September." Reply: This phenomenon is primarily associated with Chinese culture, as the seventh lunar month is regarded by the Chinese as the 'Ghost Month'. During this period, it is believed that ghosts and spirits are liberated from the lower realm and permitted to wander freely on our physical plane. The commencement of the seventh lunar month occurs on the following dates: Western: July 27, 2014 (Sunday); Lunar…

Thanks to the vision of the late Steve Jobs; For on-site consultations; many of the presentations are now on ipad and this results in less printed copies of reports. Clients also benefit from reports burned-into a CD-ROM. We were once guilty of cutting down so many trees. The tide has turned for the better!

Case Study: Morning Cecil, would like to check with you for main door. What is a good dimensions. ID asking. Thanks [FSM = Feng Shui Master] FSM: 1. The options are either two doors or one door with a half leaf. The dimensions seem quite different. It would be helpful to know the proposal in order to make necessary adjustments. This approach makes more sense since it was suggested by the initiator. FSM: 2. Thank you for verifying, the system consists of a single door measuring between 1 meter to 1.15 meters. FSM: 3. The ideal width is 42 inches, with an acceptable range of 41 inches to a maximum of 43 inches. FSM: 4. The optimal height is 83…

Dear Users, Before I elaborate on the Feng Shui Trap, it is very common for many of us to fall prey to purchasing a fountain, wind chimes etc.. in the hope that we can become `wealthy'. It is often elaborated that one does not really need to spent money under Feng Shui. What I mean is that, rather than hoping for auspiciousness to come to us by purchasing fountains etc... but should we not try to (in the first) place, if we can neutralise bad influences. If we do not do so, no matter how much we buy to ehance ourselves, we will ultimately like many people have found out fall into the Feng Shui `trap'. Hope that you can ponder over what I have said. This has been elaborate…

Dear All, The Tropica, Singapore Case Study of Applied Feng Shui in action at the Tropica Condominium. URL: http://www.geomancy.net/review/tropica/index.htm 1. The above condominium is a good example of macro Feng Shui. 2. Feng Shui is not just about our little `private' corner i.e. for those staying in an apartment; but rather the bigger picture also of the landscape, the site and the apartment blocks. 3. Some sites also take advantage of what we refer to as the beneficial effects of "negative ions" to our health. For example in the above case study, the water course at the frontage of this condominum project has a river that flows from auspiciously from west to east t…

The Ming Tang or semi-circular water positions is again a protective form of Feng Shui. And used more by traditional Feng Shiu practitioners. Picture below showing, the semi-circular water position radiating outwards of the Hyatt Hotel. Hyatt Hotel, strongly uses black (representing water element) in the interior decor. There is also a vibrant water fountain at the car park lobby area. Water is used extensively in this building. And it also employs the Yin and Yang concept of water (YIN) pouring out of rocks (YANG). This is typical of the type of concept used by Chinese monks when asked to Feng Shui a site.
