One good way of understanding concepts is to put on your thinking caps and participate in a poll. See how others had voted or their comments! Enjoy! Feel free to create a poll e.g. at Pollit.com and `cut and paste the codes' in this conference. Once the codes are pasted, wait for it to be officially approved by us and it will be reflected for users to click on. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  3. Sometime back, Robert shared with me this observation: It is not advisable to read a book page by page and act on the words as you read each chapter of the book. What happens if the author writes a book with Chapters 1, 2 and 3 saying about a certain theory. If one hastily applies each of the concepts in chapter 1, 2 and 3 (assumming he is the type who reads from chapter 1, 2, 3 in an orderly fashion). What he did not realise is that the author in his final chapter says " Chapter 1, 2 and 3 are available concepts but inauspicious to apply. Oops!! However, he finds them not suitable and in his last chapter gives the reason and the method he feels that is correct. Erh... i…

  4. In basic management books, you get to hear this statement: Management by Exception: Managers only act on exceptions and solve these problems. And reserve their efforts doing fruitful things. Feng Shui by Exception? If it ain't broken, don't Fix it. If you have the time, ponder over this statement. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. In my opinion, for English readers, if you have read Derek Walter's books, he teaches techniques or provide an understanding of a concept. Such books do not advise anyone to use something in the hope that you become `prosperous'. My stand is also the same. So, have you read books that rather ask you to do this or that?

  5. Started by Cecil Lee,

Clocks are considered `objects' of activity. It is best placed at locations of activity such as near to TV sets or hi-fi. More about clocks: 1. Do not place it above any door. 2. Unless it is used to neutralise poision arrows, you should not place it facing a window or a door. 3. Do not give a clock to a friend. Chinese consider this bad luck. 4. Do not let a clock face a stove. 5. Do not let a clock face a bed. 6. Do not let a clock face an altar. A clock is another `tool' used to deflect sha qi or poison arrow and it does not do good for it to face a bed or a stove. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  6. Hi Everyone, If you are not sure where to place a wind chime, it is best not to place a metallic wind chime indiscrimately at the following locations: 1. West 2. North-West 3. North-East The reason is because West and North-West belongs to the metal element and are considered Yin locations. For the North-East, this is the devil's gate. This is because the buddhist and Toaist call the spirit of the dead with the sound of bells. You may inadvertently attract the dead with metallic sounds (particuarly if the wave lenght fits that of calling the dead). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Fraser, Please read below:- Actually, I personally find these rather unimportant. More importantly the colour is suitable for you, that is good enough for clothings. As for the lines etc, it is really up to your liking. Generally you have to use your own personal judgement. Items can sometimes be made of different elements such as plants are both wood and earth. So similarly colour can also have to different elements such as yellow-red, which is earth and fire. Then you have to see which is more, if more red then most likely fire. Next important criteria is the shape takes precedence over colour. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Dear Fraser, Please read below:- Yes, in the natural destruction cycle, water destroys fire. Well, you are relating this directly with the Kua element direction of the bagua. Such as South being Fire. The proper thing you should look out is an overly strong influence of a certain element. A little of each element in every portion is ok. You see, you need to have a little of each elements even destructive elements in your life. Only when you have a balance of everything can you draw the strengths from them for whatever you do. All these are based on the Five Elements cycles. Production Cycle = Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, Earth. Destruction Cycle = Metal, Wood, Eart…

  9. Started by Frase,

Dear Fraser, Actually, you can do a free pillars of destiny report at http://www.geomancy-online.com to determine your birth element. Anyway, your birth element is earth. If you are a weak earth, the fire is good for you. Otherwise, metal is good for you. Actually, I think you do not really have to be so concerned about the bathroom. Areas which you should be more concerned with is with things that you spend more time with. Example your own bedroom and items you wear or carry. These are more important to suit yourself then the colour of your bathroom. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

  10. Dear Eve, Please read below:- This is Yes, in the past, many Feng Shui Masters use elements found in the name to help suppliment the lack of an element in the birth chart. This is considered the immediate cure for a new born baby to change his or her luck. As you know a person's name is most often used so it does have some impact on the person. Generally, from a name, it does provides certain characteristics and is pretty related to Feng Shui's Pillars of Destiny. Just like when my nephew was born end last year, I choose a name using this art to compliment his existing birth elements (from the Pillars of Destiny), especially areas which he lacks. And true enough,…

Dear Betty, In general:- 1. Ideally, the death or disaster intangible force should not be located at the main entrance door for the breadwinner. 2. It is not as bad for the spouse assuming that she is not the breadwinner. 3. When we use the Eight House Theory, try to look at the `global picture' i.e. not only the main entrance door but the bedrooms for each of the member of the family. Ideally, your bedroom should not have the death/disaster also. This is equally important as you are most likely to spent at least 8 hours at this location per day. Ideally, the main entrance and bedrooms should be one of the 4 auspicious intangible forces. Here, if you have children, you sh…

Dear Fraser, (This is not directed towards your message). I like to highlight that colours and its symbolish are secondary to Feng Shui. What is more important is to get the basics correct especially the following areas:- 1. Under the Shapes and Form School, it is best that the site enjoys good Feng Shui e.g. under the Four symbolic Animals Concept etc... 2. Under the Flying Star, there are no bad influences and if so, do correct them. 3. Any adverse sha or pointed arrows pointing towards your main entrance door or windows. The above are the main influences of Feng Shui. The rest like clothing etc... are secondary. Warmest Regards, Cecil -----Original Message----- From: L…

  13. Dear Joe, Symbolism in Feng Shui is equally important i.e. Blue symbolises " Water. " In the Book of I-Ching, Water means having difficulties:- 1. If an entire roof is covered with `water' (blue) one can imagine the amount of problems the household will get. The amount of `water' weighing down on one's home is enormous. 2. As I mentioned also that too much water in relation to the home e.g. greater than 33.3 percent is equally bad as too much water results in an Yin environment. 3. I have seen quite alot of occupants of houses with `blue' roofs facing difficulties and this correlates to what you have mentioned and to me, I believe it is bad to have blue tiled roof. 4. The…

Dear Anna, Sorry for the delay in reply. In general, if you have a small studio apartment, you can do the following:- 1. You can still use the Eight House Theory and divide your house into eight sectors. 2. Try to proritise or place your bed to confirm under the Shapes and Form School i.e. avoid having it facing the door a toilet etc... 3. See whether your bed can fall within one of the 4 auspicious sectors of your house. Once you have arranged your bed, then the rest of the `furniture' will fit in naturally. Where possible, use your instincts and place them where you like. For the worktable, place it against a wall. If you do a SEARCH in this forum for "studio " you most…

You can always say add some screen or divider to block the direct sha. Are you the breadwinner of the house? Yes, a good star in the room is also ok, because it can works in either main door or a bedroom. Dear Marissa, Currently, there is quite alot of talk regarding books written recently by Lillian Too. In the Feng Shui Internet community; particulary the Western Trational Feng Shui Schools mentioned their concern over what she is teaching. If one is new to Feng Shui and having read some of her books, would quickly come to the conclusion that Feng Shui uses `fixed' templates. For example, many people after reading her books thought that all Feng Shui is based on Fixed stations of the Eight Aspirations or Life Aspirations. In my opinion, some Feng Shui authors resort to capitalize on the ' static " Life Aspirations by `declaring' that North is career, South signifies Fame…

Hi Randy, Again, from some feng shui book that I have read, if you can't relocate your toilet or your main entrance, I will advise you not to use the toilet above the main entrance (I believe you have more than 1 toilet right?). In addition, you may want to have a lamp at the entrance and ensure it is on for 24 hrs. This is what we call the "chang ming deng" in feng shui which will help to reduce the negative qi with its yang energy. Regards, Chris Ng

Dear Chris, Please read below:- Actually, all the calendar are theoritically correct. However, I do find the Lunar Calendar significantly more accurate. And it can be found in almost any calendar (which has western date and chinese date). So it is easier to determine Auspicious Time. Several ways to determine an auspicious time. 1. Check the elements of the month, day, or minute. If it helps your element it is considered auspicious. 2. You can make use of the Flying Star or Xuan Kong Fei Xing to obtain auspicious time. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Hi there Chris Whilst it is not my position to promote Cecil's books, let me say that I have all 3 of them. Over the past two plus years, I have accumulated approx 18 books on FS. Some good, some rubbish. Cecil's books are easy to understand, reasonably priced and his 101 Feng Shui Tips and Fixes is like my "Bible". As a consultant, I refer to it constantly to make sure my clients are getting the correct results. I do take your point though that it is good to browse through books before you buy, a pastime I love to do. However, I have enough faith in Cecil to know that he would produce something of top quality. Cheers Glyn

Dear Chris, Thanks for sharing with us your keen observations. I would like to share with you my comments on the Green Dragon and White Tiger. Most of us have read and heard about the `ill effects' of the White Tiger. Contrary to popular belief that it is a `bad' animal, it is equally considered auspicious animal as it is courageous and even considered a beautiful animal. Here, you will notice it it is really no harm and we do not really need to `tame' the animal or provide a quiet environment. The only situations to watch out are:- 1. In the natural order, the green dragon and tiger is said to embrace each other. This is where the higher green dragon hill embraces the lo…

  21. Started by dion,

Dear Dion, What is common with the Compass School of Feng Shui i.e. the Eight House and the Flying Star and if we map our Heaven Luck using Pillars of Destiny are that they have to be personalized to an individual. For the Shapes and Form School, it is more generalised Feng Shui. The Eight Aspirations or Life Aspirations is a " free for all ". Anyone can write a book about it and say that the romance corner is at the South West while the Career is in the North. So, you will realise that if you are considering compass directions e.g. North, you should look at it under the Eight House Theory or the Flying Star Theory. Even in the Four Symbolic Animals Principle, it does not…

My advise is that the next thing you should do is to also look at which intangible force affects you in your bedroom. Hopefully, it is one of the auspicious intangible force. 2. Today, another user also faced the same problem i.e. main door is at SW and an inauspicious intangible force. Currently, I cannot really advise you futher as we are currently working on only the Eight House Theory. Other theories such as the Flying Star (birth ch…

  23. Started by daniluna,

Hi Danielle Being Kua 2, the directions you mentioned are the least inauspicious of your directions. The North and East are your death and disaster sectors so make sure the front door and your main bedroom are not here. It of course is always better to have your main door in one of your auspicious sectors. So if you really do not have to move into this place, dont. Look for a residence with a main door in one of your good directions. Glyn

Dear Michelle, Feng Shui although is not a religion has to be understood in a `holistic' way. This encompass two main Schools: 1. The Shapes and Form School and 2. The Compass School. Since you are new to Feng Shui, you can tour the website especially this url: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/theory.htm or start a tour at http://www.geomancy.net/fs/map.htm and at the same time, you can explore the many tools available at www.geomancy-online.com particulary the Free Eight House Chart. As you are aware Feng Shui cannot be `digested' in a day and you can if you want to, read the various messages in this forum. For selling a house, it may take time and other factors include the p…

Dear Davis, To clarify, if there is a fire, fire `moves' upwards and a room above the kitchen is not considered `ideal'. But as you have brought out for example a safe. A safe in the same situation stores things and a room above a safe looks fine. In Feng Shui it is inauspcious for example to have a toilet above a bedroom. But, not the other way around. Same situation for a store room.
