  2. Source: www.scmp.com Incense fumes could do more harm to your health than tobacco smoke It's one of the familiar smells of Asia, from the temple to the family altar, but the next time you are surrounded by a cloud of incense smoke you may want to hold your nose. Research in Taiwan has lent credence to suspicions that the joss sticks and incense that are burned as offerings to the gods may get you to heaven far quicker than you'd like. Medical professionals have long suspected that joss sticks and incense - usually containing a blend of plant extracts and oils - emit harmful fumes when burned. Now, researchers from Taiwan's National Cheng Kung University in Tainan say jo…

  3. Dear All, 1. Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew has consistently avoided having statues or portraits of himself displayed, despite his remarkable success. 2. In contrast, dictators often promote themselves through grandiose statues and propaganda photos. However, history has shown the downfall of such dictators in countries like Poland and Iraq. This analogy can be applied to the deceptive practices of certain Feng Shui practitioners who exploit unsuspecting individuals by selling them subpar products under the guise of Feng Shui. 3. These unethical practitioners tarnish the reputation of Feng Shui and deceive people for their own financial gain. Warm…

Dear All, According to the principles of Shapes and Form Feng Shui, it is deemed inauspicious to have a swimming pool or pond located on the western side of a house. This is due to the fact that the west side is linked to the white tiger, and having a pool in that area is akin to exposing the 'mouth' of the white tiger. It is advised against doing so, as a hungry tiger symbolizes financial loss or potential disasters. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  6. @ Evergreen Park at Hougang Avenue 7 Any negative energy or harmful structures that may affect the living space? In the search for a new apartment, it is important to be mindful of any negative energy or harmful structures that may affect the living space. In the case of Evergreen Park at Hougang Avenue 7, the spikes on the open air carpark do not pose a threat to the 2nd storey apartments. This is fortunate as if there were apartments on the ground level, the trellis spikes could have created a poison arrow effect towards many of the units. Thankfully, this is not the case here.

When I first began practicing Feng Shui many years ago, I was fascinated by the auspicious measurements of the main entrance doors in the First Generation HDB flats. 3. Disregarding the grille gate of this particular home, the width of the entrance is considered auspicious according to the Feng Shui Ruler. Even when taking into account the support frames on both sides of the main door, it remains auspicious. 4. The origins of this phenomenon are unknown. It is possible that it occurred unintentionally. It is likely that a Chinese furniture maker or manufacturer was assigned to design an e…

Dear Anon & Emily, 1. Certainly, this is one of the most contentious areas within the practice of Feng Shui. 2. Nevertheless, to reduce this issue, I prefer to delve into various important aspects, so that by the conclusion, everyone can gain a clearer understanding. 3.It is imperative for us to grasp ideas such as: 3.1 Facing and Sitting directions 3.2 The "Mouth-of-the-house". 4. These two are related. 5. In many cases, the main entrance of a landed property is considered to be the "mouth of the house" due to its location facing the frontage. This is a common occurrence as we typically approach the front of the home by driving up to i…

  10. It is essential to ensure that new buildings, homes, Additions, and Alteration works are considerate of their neighbors. Careful consideration should be given to selecting appropriate materials and designs for external walls and roofing. Notably, myVillage in Serangoon Gardens darkened ts floor-to-ceiling windows in 2010, after nearby residents complained that the glass reflected too much sunlight and heated up their homes in the evenings. The neighbourhood mall subsequently replaced the reflective glass with two-way tinted glass a few months later. The regulatory update is so that designs can be enjoyed by all without causing a…

    1. Under Symbolism in Feng Shui, it is considered inauspicious to accept or approve the placement of any signage especially if there is a "spilt" in the middle of the signage: 1.1. It literally symbolises a "split" or disharmony of family relationships. 1.2. Under commonsense approach, there is a literal or real split due to wear and tear at the top middle portion of the signage as shown under red marking "A". 2. For business, it is more important to specify that your company signage should not be split in the middle - if possible. Thus instead of two pieces joined together, if really no choice at least a three piece background would be better choice.
