Balcony
You wrote: Nowadays, many apartments (HDB or private development) comes with balcony or planter. Would like to seek your advice if these areas need to be brightly and well lit at night or is it OK to leave these areas unlit at night? These are some considerations: 1. In my opinion, contrary to what you had written; in fact, long time ago as far as 1968 onwards; many apartments do have either a balcony or the many thousands of 1 room and 3 room HDB a COMMON corridor. This includes the HUDC flats and private flats. 2. Especially these common corridor is a "cheaper" form of balcony; but they are still some form of a corridor cum balcony. 3. Even today, many HDB blocks have common corridors even if the unit does not have an actual balcony especially a protuding one. 4. Therefore, in my opinion; so long as the corridor or Balcony is not excessively cluttered it is fine or OK. You also wrote: Also, is there any significance feng shui concern if tile lights (those that are installed on floor panel and throw the lights upwards) are used in these areas in place of the normal wall lights found in most balcony area? 5.Frankly, this has more to do with common sense then Feng Shui. 6. In fact a fixed on ceiling light is the best at a balcony. Especially balconies at lower floors. WHY? 6.1. I would be more concerned of installing those cove lights or as you mentioned those throw upward lights. They are friendier but these unfortunately are a hive for lizards. 6.2. Go take a look at ground level flats or homes. And often lizards use to hide behind or inside these cove lights. Just place you hands into the areas and you most likely get all the lizard eggs and shit! 6.3. In a recent development; Livia at Pasir Ris; if one pass thru that area; and look up at all the balconys; this condo development does not provide light point at the ceiling of all block's balcony. Perhaps, to make it look "tidy" and uniform on the outside.

Put skylight in the bathroom in middle of house
1. Feng Shui is a holistic approach and it is about maximising a home's qi. 2. No; practise the Heaven side is located at NW and not at North.

I can't figure out this? Can you?
1. Numerous blocks associated with the same neighbourhood HDB flats; at the VOID deck (ground level), every pillar appears to have a tag, such as C4033, etc.. 2. What is the reason for the excessive tagging of the pillars across several blocks of flats? 3. These flats were built between 1984 and 2003, specifically around 1997. They are relatively new and do not appear to be in disrepair. Is it necessary to monitor each pillar as if they are in critical condition? 4. Perhaps the town council requires precise identification of each pillar and its location. For instance, a maintenance team might be alerted... 4.1 Block 391A Compassvale Street, Pillar no. C4033 has stains on it... Should it be cleaned? Is this the actual reason? 4.2 Or is there something more concerning, such as: Sir, pillars C4033 and C4032 have collapsed... Could the structure or block be at risk of collapsing? (In an imaginary scenario) 5. Honestly, throughout Singapore, I have not encountered VOID deck pillars being numbered in the manner observed here. EACH RED circle signifies a tagged number, such as W4022... What is going on?

HDB unit layout help!
Priscilla A. wrote: Thks master lee for your promot reply. The door facin is ideal to my kua number. Guess i feel better after your advice. Would you be able to advice on how to reduce the impact of the stairs. > Please note that this is only a Free GENERAL advice forum. If you want to apply Feng Shui; things like e.g. ploting a Flying Star chart etc.. needs to be looked into. Something like the attached sample which takes into consideration many factors. You also wrote: Also, is house number important? The unit no. Is 14-240. Guess in cantonese it means real bad. But both me n my husband are not. Will that affect us? Thanks! This is kinda too late to look into. There is a free House (Apartment) Number report under this forum. In Singapore and Hong Kong; perhaps one can or may say that in the future; when you do sell your home; especially SOME (superstitious) Cantonese MAY not like the apartment number. Thus, it has more to do with the marketing or selling of the property in the future....

HDB unit layout help!
These are some considerations: 1. Based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui; of course this type of layout is not the best; as the most "stable" form is always rectangular in shape. 2. However, I have seen worst layout(s) than this. 3. Do take note that there are three markings: 3.1. Marking in RED "A":- For this layout plan; it is important that the stove should not be at the "A" marking. A fridge at that location is fine or OK. 3.2. Marking in GREEN "B":- Although the staircase is not directly facing the main door; the staircase (both going up and down) is often considered inauspicious especially if one stands just inside the door and can see it "sloping" downwards. (Here, one would expect that as we can go up the staircase, we can also go down from it). 3.3. Marking in BLUE "C":- I believe, some may comment that the main door opens towards the living room windows. But in my opinion; this is less of an issue when compared to the other two points I mentioned above. 4. The above is based purely on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui only. 5. Feng Shui is about Earth Luck. Ba zi is about Heaven Luck. The other factor is "Human factors". If your many friends and relatives many make comments on such a layout plan; then it would often affect the persons staying in that apartment. 6. In the past, I had mentioned that it takes 3 or more major "leaks" for problems in an apartment. Thus, it would be more prudent for someone owning such an apartment to have "better" Feng Shui than a regular apartment. If so, this would reduce or minimize any issue (if any) i.e. for peace of mind.. P.S. the attachment shows the center (centre) of gravity which is fortunately in no way within an enclosed area e.g. kitchen.

Tilting Main Door (GONE WRONG)
Unit marked in RED "A" faces a very long corridor. One plus point about the plants along marking in red "B" is that these plants help to slow down the sha qi towards Unit "A". Please see photo...

Tilting Main Door (GONE WRONG)
These are more photos of this same unit main entrance door... The strange thing is that if the main door WAS not tilted; the owner NEED not place a conVEX mirror above their main entrance door. Here, the owner tilted the main door that now faces the column.....

Tilting Main Door (GONE WRONG)
Today, while visiting a client's apartment. Came across a HDB mansionette (Executive Flat) that had it's main entrance door tilted. On further observations; actually, it is far better not to tilt the main door. As originally, the main entrance faces an "opening". After this person had tilted their main door; the main door faces the column wall. This results as a sha qi or poison arrow. Please see photos...

Next to the field is an interesting (free) club. According to the committee member which I met (he is in one of the photos); he tells me that this is a "poor" man's golf game. As literally, the small field has all the same bells and whistles of a golf course except in minature scale....

Buddha - Leg chipped off (Broken)
In my opinion; this has nothing to do with Feng Shui. But rather, own cultural customs, beliefs and personal feelings. I believe there are some people who felt that it is not good to simply "trash" the figurine. If so, one may wrap it and store it away.

Shapes & Forms: Poison Arrows - Sha Qi
Location: Punggol Central ( 7 year old HDB flat) Did you manage to see the sharp corner of the 90 degree corridor wall aimed towards a specific unit? Can you see the owner (tenant) of the unit placing a ba gua mirror with a conVEX mirror to deflect this poison arrow or sha qi...
