Kua sitting and main door facing directions
You wrote: 1. For the Eight House system, the reason we try to find out the facing of the main door is to determine the facing of the house (since they're usually the same). We should find a house with a sitting direction (opposite the facing direction) that is favorable (N, S, E and SE). Thus am I wrong to think that we are looking for houses with main doors facing the favorable directions (N, S, E and SE)? Or is the ideal situation where both the sitting of the house and the facing of the main door are favorable directions? Also, under the Eight House system, the facing of the main door is taken while standing in the middle of the door looking out. It doesn't matter where the door is located in relation to the center of the house. In a simplistic way; what you wrote makes sense. The url below shows the SUMMARY of a delicate balance between not only the Eight House with Flying Star but also Ba zi Feng Shui http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=1&mid=29739&new= The reason for finding the Facing Direction (can be or may not be the main door) is usually the location where there are the most openings. Thus, OFTEN for a landed property it is standing inside the house looking out of the frontage. For an apartment: I believe this has been mentioned in many past forum messages. In Flying Star, the key is to determine where is the most Yang Qi such as the largest amount of openings where most likely qi would flow into the home or apartment. Often it is along the stretch of the windows along the living room windows - side. Try to "forget" more of the emphasis of MAIN DOOR. But subsitute this with FACING direction, instead. So that the "novice" mind is used to the more proper term. If one keeps on saying MAIN DOOR, main door, main door; then it may be so much confusing for the brain.

Understanding lucky / favorable element + Case Study of it applied under Ba Zi Feng Shui
WARNING! The writing below isnot for the "simpleton"... More academic ... in nature... Don't blameme if one can't understand.. it... I did warn U.. But U did not listen! 1. We can take cue from the paradox known as "The Continuum fallacy" (Neither at the extremes end of Hot or Cold - in between) 2. Here, education system cannot be considered as distinctively Wood or Water Element. (or even a mix of other elements). 3. This is because between Wood or Water there exists a continuum of states. 4. For example: Even in dull subjects like Accountancy; there are applied concepts such as "Creative Accounting". 5. Even in the study of Marketing; there are some topics that depends sterlie understanding of the concepts or parigdms. 6. Even for us humans; even if there is a continuum of Hot or Cold; we can't simply drink boiling hot water. Often, we go for lukewarm water especially for babies or children. 7. Thus, even for teachers: and for any subject; many "smart" teachers would often try to make their topic interesting (Water element) while for some topics.. no choice have to be "dry" (Wood element). 8. Therefore again; education must not be considered belonging only to Wood OR Water and considered as DISTINCT. In real-life it exists in a continuum neither at the two extremes but somewhere along the continuum.

Kua sitting and main door facing directions
For a landed property it is best to consider the facing direction of the home vs the facing direction of the main door. In this link although the mention is on "tilting main door" but; I understand that yours has to do with using certain doors; However, the concept of facing direction can best be understood from this url (just ignore the "need to tilt" sort of thing:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Tilting_Main_Door Please note that your main door or garage door can be anywhere or on the side of the home. But the above link gives a better idea that no matter how the saying goes " A leopard never changes it's spots". In addition; there are many links under "sticky" on "Facing Direction". Use the SEARCH feature on the top-left frame of this forum.

Name analysis please
Cecil Lee replied to myfs_141200's topic in Chinese Name Analysis (Xing Ming Xue) = Change Name or New born's NameIt is good that Taiwan wants to continue the tradition of making the Traditional Chinese characters alive! Traditional Chinese characters are still used today especially for Chinese Name selection for new borns or those wanting to change their name(s). Nowadays, China and even Singapore uses the simplified mandarin characters.

Feng Shui on Altar Table Setting
Can my altar face the dining table? So long as the deity sitting on the altar: at EYE LEVEL does not DIRECTLY face the dining table TOP. If this "test" is passed; then no issue. Why not? Standard off the shelf commercially purchased altars have specific altar heights of around 49 3/4 inches. This is the norm. If so, this much higher than a regular (normal) dining table other than those bar counter tops.

Not the best design of a Swing Door
In my opinion; for safety reasons; many swing doors are up to waist or slightly higher. In the attached photos; there can be a remote possibility that especially the upper panels may one day accidentaly slam the panel onto a person's face - if they are not careful.

Cups on the Altar table
Frankly, in my opinon, if it only happens once; most likely as you had earlier suspected could be due to "natural" circumstances. Does any family member(s) had any sort dream recently around the time the fell off. Other than that; seldom if any a cup could fall off.

Buddha placement
These are some considerations: 1. Symbolism. 1.1. The rationale why LAUGHING buddhas are very popular is the "SMILE" on it's face. 1.2. The idea here is that when we see "someone smiling" it is suppose to makeus feel"happy". 1.3. Thus, it also indirectly may affect someone's psychology in some way: This is why many Chinese place the laughing buddha looking towards the entrance of the home. 2. Even for many Chinese, the laughing buddha should not be taken seriously. Therefore, it does not have any association with religion nor considered a religious artifact. 2.1. Therefore, even for many Chinese; they consider it close to a "decorative" item. 3. After understanding the above; there is no issue with placing the buddhas together. 3.1. Symbolically, again; it is always or often placed such that when one steps into the home; there is suppose to be a "SMILE greeting us". This in my opinion is the main purpose of the Buddha. 3.2. Thus placing it at other locations can generally still be OK. It all boils down to the hope that it's infectious smile spills over to the people who get a "daily" glimse of it. Of course, give it some respect and don't place it on a shelf in the toilet or when one goes to the toilet "seating on the throne" and doing the daily toilet business and having the smiling buddha looking at you! Cheers!

Feng Shui on Altar Table Setting
This is another type of landed property layout plan. Again, the best place for the altar is as shown in the attachment. The altar is facing the dinning table. In fact, in my opinion; many staying in housing estates or flats consciously or unconsciously `copied' or felt the same feeling in placing their altar in a similar layout as landed property homes. In Hokkien term; it is called "Sitting on mountain; looking out towards the sea" (Chay Swar Kuar Hai)
-
Feng Shui on Altar Table Setting
1. In this example of a landed property layout. 2. Here, it is not because it is no good to have the altar face the dining table. 3. BUT rather; the altar should not be "beside" the toilet door. See attached illustration.

Feng Shui on Altar Table Setting
Again, you can see that although some of the landed property layouts are slightly different; in this layout; you can see that many landed property owners would place their altar facing the dining table. Thus, just imagine; in Singapore how many people can afford to own a landed property be it a terrace house; semi-detach or bungalow. (Only 1 to 2 percent of the entire housing in Singapore belong to such homes). Therefore, if landed property homes can have altar facing the dining table; "so what" about condos or public housing. Can't these apartments do the same? If one were to drive through all the estates where landed property homes are; and peer into the homes; most likely would be able to see the altar table directly facing the dining table.

Feng Shui on Altar Table Setting
These are some of the considerations: 1. Frankly it is considered "No big deal" to have an altar facing the dining table. 2. For example, take a look at this sample semi-detached landed property home. 2.1 There are tons and tons of such landed properties where the best place to position the altar is as shown in the attached. 2.2 Thus, in the sample HDB flat; it is thus "No big deal". Since I mentioned earlier and (see attachment) this often the best location. 3. The only thing to take note is that when we buy a ready made altar; the most crucial point is that the altar table height is 49 3/4 inches. And if one imagine carefully, it OVER-LOOKS the dining table. 4. Thus avoid making one's altar table at the next auspicious height of around 42 inches. Else, it is considered close to looking directly at the food on the dining table. Here, most likely the deity e.g. Guan Yin could even "salivate" when looking at the food!

Fancy having chicken feet Tim Sum
Cantonese Tim Sum comes in many flavours or assortments. A very popular tim sum delicacy is the chicken feet. A generalised Cantonese saying goes "if it flies, it has two or more legs or no legs... anything on earth is edible..."

Up Mountain, Up Water versus Double Facing
1. Yes, you have a valid point, here. (And depending on the Period) what you mentioned makes sense. However..... 2. To further understand better; 2.1. You need to overlay the flying star chart onto the layout plan. And thre are many considerations: master bedroom, kitchen: location and placement etc.. etc... 2.2. Shapes and Forms fo the external environment, the site and the building. 2.3. The drainage out of the property 3. As we go deeper into the analysis; and investigative work; the more we can understand better which facing IN RELATION to the plot and internal organs of the house is a better choice. 4. What you mentioned is like looking at an apple from the outside (purely facing direction). But outwardly, the apple may look good; but internally, it could be rotten inside. Same thing, here.

Master Bedroom in East (Total Loss) section
1. Like all investigative sciences; in order for you to make any enhancement(s) and/or reduce any negative qi: Feng Shui Triage. Tell us: how to remedy ifno investigations are done: TRIAGE 2. The Eight House / Eight Mansions (4 Good/Bad directions) concept can be used to futher look at the best bed-head direction. 3. Shapes and Forms of the bedroom: often this is limited by the bedroom door, windows and other fixtures in a bedroom e.g. entrance to the attached bedroom. 4. Alternatively; if the above are not applied; then it is as good as doing Trial and Error Feng Shui. Logically, it is either going thru Para 1 to 3 or "free for all".

5 yellow on sector 6-8
If you are referring to East sector to create a window; best to avoid doing so, this lunar year. As not only the #5 yellow is at East (this year) but also Grand Duke or Tai Sui.

East sector on Fire need help
Frankly, take a simple flow chart: 1. Either one goes to a geomancer. In this case, you should follow-up with your geomancer and ask him to find the leaks for you. or 2. DIY. For DIY, I have provided you some of the good practises. However, I can understand, many of us; simply are too impatient, here as there are lots and lots of things to take note. And the fact that if one don't even know how to find the leaks; Please refer to Para 1. 3. In the earlier, link; the fact is thateven allgeomancers needs to go thru the "Triage" to find out what are the leaks. A link which I posted earlier mentions this.

East sector on Fire need help
Frankly, Feng Shui is a holistic approach. It is best to be aware of:Fast Food Feng Shui Your question is like this senario:Feng Shui Triage One of the key success factors is:Fix-the-Leak, First! You should also considerThe Concept of Maximizing Marks The above are some of the considerations. Thus penning a few lines of text does not equate to presto! You can increase your wealth.

Toilet Placement
Using eye-ball method, please see attachment for the centrepoint. Looks like the centerpoint is not located in the toilet. It is located in the kitchen. But fortunately, it is not directly above the stove which is inauspicious. The Concept of Maximizing Marksshould be applied should the toilet is located at the centrepoint.
