  1. Dear Susan, Since you do not have furniture inside, then perhaps, see if the external landscape looks appealing or `clean'. As you had mentioned, the `first' impression of the front of the home is important. Often, Feng Shui is not meant to sell a property. But most people like: convenience (to work/schools/markets etc). And, likewise, $$$ plays an important part of the attractiveness of a home for a buyer. And if a home has good Feng Shui, such as open space and friendly, FS interior, hopefully, some clients may appreciate this. Wishing You all the best in selling your home! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Nhan Vo, Often, the white crystals are the evaporated "white" salt crystals, that was stirred into the water. And perhaps, a little of the chemical reaction of salt with the surface of the copper coins. It is good to check the Flying star numbers at the specific sector and to check whether, one's home could `fly' into the new period 8 or not. And at the same time, if the #5 does not fly into the location for the year, then, one may not need to consider the use of this `cure'. As mentioned, in my past message(s) on this cure, one has to actively `monitor' it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Anon, Often, the colour scheme can be used in many situations. Neutral colour such as white or pastel shades of light colours are acceptable. The use of 6 coins is symbolic. Here, 6 represents big metal. And this is why it is often used. Other metal elements often used as a cure in Feng Shui are things like pendulum clock or wind chimes. In my opinion, this type of cure can be subjective. As not all practitioners may agree with it. In my opinion, it does help. So long as it is seen, it is ok. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Anon, Frankly, you are not the only one that would be facing this `problem'. It is far better to have the desk face a door than facing away from the door. This often, is not advantages for the person working in this office: 1. cannot see who is coming in. 2. for some of us, may not feel comfortable with others looking in e.g. privacy issue if computer screen is in view of others. 3. symbolically inauspicious - seems like one is turning one's back against one's work etc... For example, it would be quite odd for those with a room to have their back facing the door. (Unless, this area is a computer room or other shared room). In most offices, one can easily place a low back row of cabinet behind one's table (to act as a support - if the back is entirely made of glass). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Susan, If you have a sketch, it would be easier to visualise the situation. Overall, since all bedrooms often have a window(s) and a bedroom door, there is a limitation to where it can be placed. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Jason, This is a free report and the key is to provide one with one's true element and strength. Other specific details are not provided in this free report. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Susan, As the word "Compass School" Feng Shui suggests, it is the actual use of the magnetic compass i.e. to take a reading of the home/surroundings. And the "Traditional Authentic Compass School of Feng Shui" takes into consideration, the magnetic needle direction in relation to the position of a home or office or site. Therefore, anything that relates to `fixed' template is not really based on the Compass School of Feng Shui. For example some western "Black Hat Sect" type of FS, simple has a fixed layout plan and this is placed against the main door. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anon, 1. One thing for sure: Economically, it has future resale potential being in a popular/higher priced area. 2. In terms of Feng Shui, these are `point-block' type of condo. 3. And, point block condos are, in my opinion, has better qi flow and `points' of entry of qi in and out of the unit(s). 4. The major consideration is that although this is a `point block', it does not have the rectangular point block feature. A rectangular point block often has at least `three-points' of qi flow e.g. balcony, various bedrooms and kitchen or back area. And a forth, qi flow coming from the main door. 5. But the condo does allow for exceptional length of `frontage'. 6. As for individual units, it would have to depend on the facing direction of the Flying Star school, for the selection of better units. 7. NTUC is a relatively new comer and often, has poor information of their development on their website. For example the site plan does not have the north-south marking; and I believe, there are no sample - internal layouts to look at. 8. But based on preliminary look, the units facing the swimming pool would normally be best. (But, needless to say, these units are always sold at a premium compared to other units. (In Singapore, Feng Shui is related to or equal to the price we are prepared to pay!) 9. In economic terms, when Singapore will ultimately face a "glut" in having too many condos, as many people have to retire and forced to sell their condos, this one, perhaps, can even be sold as late as lease reaches 65 years or more left. Warmest Regards, Cecil http://www.ntuc-choiceho
  9. Dear Monica, Frankly, in Feng Shui, there is no specific need for `special' paintings all around the walls in a bedroom. If you have posted this message to a "Feng Shui emporium", I believe, you will be happy `slapped' with various items to buy on their site. In Feng Shui, one key success factor is "clear space". And cleanliness. I am not saying that hanging paintings is not `clean'. But for those living in Asia, and at low floors, such as 1st to the 4th storey, there are such insects / reptiles as : lizards. Often, if one has three paintings, at night, one may just get a glimse of a few `fat' lizards, coming out of the hiding of various paintings to catch their bait. Nowadays, I understand that even in many condominiums, those with rough rocky walls, many new generation lizards or geckos, are able to do some `rock climbing' and climb into such homes. In fact, the question is: If one likes paintings or pictures, please by all means place it in the bedroom. And not because that "Feng Shui" says so... In fact, locally, many couples often ask during their new home Feng Shui: Can we hang our wedding photos in our bedroom? "Sure why, not. Even better if the portait has the wife pulling the husband's ears.. erh.. no funny tricks!" Here, everything either of them comes into their bedroom, perhaps deep down in their heart: the picture or portait comes as a gentle reminder: "OH MY GOD! I am stuck with him/her... fooling around means, he/she get's half of my property!" Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Anon, Yes, this is considered as a `threat' to the `mouth' (main entrance) of the home. Given this situation: Taiwanese Feng Shui often suggests the use of plant(s). But if this is not possible, see if one can apply the concept: " if it cannot be seen, it can no longer be a threat". The next is the "terroist link" option: Get Bin Laden to help demolish the threat. *JOKE* As a last resort, one may have to consider the placement of a ba gua mirror above the main entrance doo. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Gerard, In my opinion, often these sun-shades do not pose a `threat' to a neighbour. In fact, I believe, HDB had already for many years back installed sun shade - in particular; for bedroom windows facing west or south west direction. Many of these windows have `clear space' i.e. often no obstruction as far as 500 metres or more (from another block of flats). What is worse is this `test': Sometimes, the next block is a full wall. And when we stand inside of the home, looking outwards, we tend to get `glare' or light reflected from such neighbouring block's walls. And this glare is `sha qi'. Many of the sun-screens as you had mentioned covers mostly a level higher than the top-hung window and flows down for slightly. When one stands even in an opposite flat (looking out of the window), this sun shade is simply too high. Nor does it pose such a strong reflected sha qi. So far, I have yet to see, such sun-shades for windows facing North or South or even East direction. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Chee Wee, One has to breakdown, the type of luck into three categories: 1. Heaven Luck 2. Earth Luck 3. Human Luck What you mentioned has to do with the Human luck factors. However, in our lives, the one that `govern' or has a much (much) higher influence is our "Earth" luck. Given that we are on this earth. And the earth luck component is normally our home and environment. For Heaven Luck, most of the time, even if it is inauspicious but if we have very good Earth luck, our earth luck gives a very good buffer. Human luck e.g. wearing suitable clothings is therefore, considered a smaller component of our overall luck. Again, the key success (or highest) weightage is not what colour we wear, but again the THREE L'S: which is Location, Location and Location (FULL STOP) Warmest Regards, Cecil Do I have to regards, Lim
  13. Further to what I had mentioned, there are many cases on bad Feng Shui practises, mentioned by users, clients: 1. One client (who is an interior designer) recently told me, that often, he encountered his clients bringing along their Feng Shui Master. In many situations, the Feng Shui master would ask: You have to get a specific painting. The client (victim) replies: "Where do I get such a painting?" THe FS Master: "Come to my shop". 2. Other senarios include: "You need to buy $X,XXX.00 amount of goods from my shop, in order to have good Feng Shui. 3. In some Feng Shui forums: everything a question is being posted, the reply is: Please buy this "product" that we have.. etc.. No wonder, that many of us are so guillble. Only the smarter ones (perhaps, some learn too late), will avoid these practises like the PLAQUE. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Pramila, In fact, one has a higher success, in applying much thought out management principles and process, rather than Feng Shui, here. For example, 6 years ago, there were many people in Singapore, who set up "Taiwanese Bubble Tea" outlets. And, gosh, I received as many as 5 to 6 calls a month; from this people, wanting to "Feng Shui" their shop. I shook my head, and, refused to have anything to do with the FS of such shops. Imagine: 1. Entry barrier Almost anyone with a `limited' capital can start up such a shop. 2. Drinking habbit These drinks contains tons of sugar, and often are very cold. Like the Seven-Eleven Surpee drink. In Singapore, many grown-ups have never got used to drinking even one drink, let alone, will ever continue to buy such drinks. 3. Young Even the young, will grow tired of it. Another fad, came along, three years ago: the opening of Luohan fish store. Here, some of these prorietors ask to Feng Shui, their shop. I flatly turned down. 4. Thus, if the entry level is very low, nearly everyone with the same capital can go into the business. 5. In fact, from a Chinese perspective, the hallmarks of a successful company are: 5.1 "A tradition of excellence" 5.2 "Honesty" - Often, this is the most effective as it leads to mouth to mouth introduction of new clients. Existing clients giving good references are far better than, one blowing one's trumpet. Of course, there are many more major Management theories, such as those from Harvard University USA. Such as theories evoked by Michael Porter. And, many other marketing concepts. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Stan, In my opinion, each animal belongs to a certain set of element. For example, next year has two relationships: 1. Metal Monkey 2. in the Wood Year (2004). Under such circumstances, often, many practitioners will apply the Five elements concept to see how well the "Metal Monkey" fit or not-fit with the Wood year. And as many of are aware, the Five Elements concept is prevalent and the most applied concept, to troubleshoot or explain things (be it a year, a month etc..) But what is most interesting is that some FS practitioners perhaps, want to have "fame" and would try to predict certain events next year. If one analyse their "predictions" closely, many will choose very common issues:- 1. WAR! 2. Earthquake 3. New issue: SARs or some illness For example, many of us are aware that (touch wood) California (LA) has yet to have a earthquake for quite some time, or countries prone to earthquakes like Japan etc... Often, to make sure that their "predictions" come true, perhaps the practitioner will state at least 5 or 6 calamity. So that, at least, a few would become "true". And thus make them "famous". Anyway, look at it this way, many of us, do not care as much as our own surroundings. For example, in Singapore, we are more concerned with making money or earning a living. And `not as concerned' with a tornado or earthquake, the other side of the world. Furthermore, how often, we do see a "road side" astrologer. If they can predict our lives, yet, they are unable to predict a better life for themselves. And end up, doing readings, there and then? Lets all hope, that there are less "terroism". As it seems to be getting really, really out of hand. It is good if these crazy people, jump down and commit suicide. But, to bring others along, is madness:((( Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Deborah, Frankly, Feng Shui is non-religious. Thus, Buddha, or the religion buddism has nothing to do with Feng Shui. Perhaps, you can try do an internet search e.g. using Yahoo.com et... to find out more information about this topic. THE LUCKY CHINESE WARRIORS For the "lucky Chinese warriors" hmm.... these are considered products. And are not purely Feng Shui. Can I ask a few simple questions: Q1. "Do you own a pet dog? Or does your neighbours own dogs? YES/No" Q2. "Is your garden an open area i.e. no fencing/main gate - open area The attached picture will show why sometimes, the "lucky Chinese warriors" may not be SO LUCKY AFTER-ALL..... The saying goes: The "LUCKY CHINESE WARRIORS" are suppose to "PROTECT". BUT THE QUESTION IS ALSO: WHO IS GOING TO "PROTECT" THESE STATUES?" The attached, picture, is based on every day, commonsense. And, often it can be very REAL. No B.S. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. "Every DOG has it's DAY!"
  17. Dear All, Frankly, I have no time yet to translate an article posted to a Chinese Newspaper. Feng Shui can be applied transparently into a home - without one even knowing that the specific home has been "Feng Shui-ed". This letter is from a client of mine... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Pao Lee, Please see below:- Yes. In my opinion, it is `eternal' as long as one does not "fly" the home into a new period. Pay more attention to the main door. Where possible, the main door should NOT be moved or re-installed. Else, it will most likely mean, a failed exercise. If you can, try to get the contractor to:- 1. The living room floor tiles up to the main door, should be completed. 2. The main door, should be properly `seated' and not re-adjusted or reinstalled after lunar 2004. Frankly, it looks like an incomplete home. In my opinion, an incomplete home or one that is `not fit' to live in is considered as an uncompleted home. And may be furtile exercise. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Madan, To clarify, My problem is that the Thanks. Cecil
  20. Dear Jen, A home is similar to an artist's canvas painting. It has a shape and form. And it is best to look at a home in it's entirety. Not just whether, there is clear-space "exactly at the centrepoint" or close-by. Equally important are the `air-flow' entry and exit points of a home e.g. the windows, doors etc... And all these should be seen in an entire picture i.e. the production of a layout plan. In my opinion, what you mentioned is like examining just the right side of a vehicle's car. Thus an incomplete picture. I hope you understand: With the incomplete picture given, I have to give you an incomplete answer: Dunno. In the future, if one is describing a person, please post, his/her face, or their entire full photo. Even in olden days, rich Chinese families, and would-be-parents-in-law would look at the features of the potential spouse from feet, ankle, knees, to hips and upwards. Much like - buying "cattle". Apologies if this sounds, kinda crude, but, this is a fact of life, then. But not now:) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Robert, For 1st timers, it is best to go for a `pie-chart' 8 wedges method instead of the grid. If the home is rectangular, than the 9 grid, can easier be applied to. Flying star chart can be used to analyse a singular room or an entire home. Since your purpose is to analyse your own home, than, it is suggested that you try to find the `centre' of gravity of your home. And from this centrepoint, align the north-south compass direction to the template. For example, you can review the resources for the Eight House Chart or Template: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm The metholody is quite similar to the Flying star chart. Warmest Regards, Cecil Regards.
  22. Dear Ai Ling, It has to be done after the 2004 Lunar new year. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Rolando, Industry Analysis: ================== The object or item: lingerie belongs to the earth element or clothing industry. Company Analysis: ================= Core business: a. For the manufacturer If the core business is to design and launch new lingerie, this can be considered under Wood element. b. In your case, most likely, you are selling lingerie, than the core business is Marketing / Sales. Under this area, it is considered as a fire element. The type of colour or outlet would depend on the type of clientelle that you are considering. If you are selling `niche' market lingerie, targetted to the boutique style, than - it is best to discuss with your Interior decorator, the type of atmosphere, you like to have. This often, goes together with the location selected. If your location is an exclusive branded environment, then often, if it is a high end branded good, then, often, the distributor or manufacturer have some guidlines or some form of branding image to adhere to. But if you are selling many brands and for the common folks than, the typical, $2 shop type of environment should be created. More importantly, if you have not selected a logo and colour scheme, often it should harmonise to the owner or partners. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Laura, I must admit that I find myself somewhat perplexed by this situation. I apologize for expressing this sentiment. This forum currently contains over 11,000 messages. If you take the time to attend two specialized conferences—such as Photo Tours of Interests (which includes photographs), Singapore Property, or Can or Cannot Buy—I am confident that your message will be well-received. It is my belief that messages shared in General conferences, such as Discuss:: Free Advice (General Feng Shui), should provide you with tangible examples. I earnestly hope that the standard of research is not one that requires individuals to be excessively guided. I truly hope it does not come to that. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Anon, On your question of: Yes, you are correct. Double `8' only remain auspicious for the 20 year period. After Period 8, #8 will revert to a pure mountain star. Here, if the mountain star is #8, a mountain can still be activated. But, since the other 8 which is a water star 8, would not be favourable thereafter to activate real water or water. This is unlike Period 7, where, when under Period 7, 7 is very auspicious. And after period 7, #7's turn to `robbery' or violence star. But since #7 is weak metal, many practitioners often recommend water to "drown" both mountain #7 and water #7 - i.e. neutralise it's effect. (Not withstanding one must also look at base star #no.) For example, in a Period 7 (N1 or 0/360 degrees home), the flying star at north is #7 mountain #7 water with #3 base. Given this situation, too much water may further fuel #3 disputes, quarrels. Thus, a not too large water position can be used in conjunction with a plant. Step 1: ======== Here, #7 is weak metal x 2 (double 7) Step 2: ======== Water is introduced to reduce the effects of double 7 (mountain and water) under Period 8. Make sure that 5 elements are utilised in this water positon to create a 5 elements flow i.e. a plant, with lights (turned on for several hours) and preferably, the water postion is not made of glass but rather, have earth e.g. granite or other earth elements in it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
