what is my zodiac
Dear Jisun, You can use this manual method to check your actual Western to Lunar calendar:- http://www.lovesigns.net/astrology/ayear/a60-80.htm This in general, if you are born on or between 2 Feb 1965 to 20 Jan 1966 under the Chinese zodiac, you are considered as a Wood-Snake But if you are born on or between 21 Jan 1966 to 8 Feb 1967 you are considered as a Fire-Horse. You can also make use of the free reports at http://www.geomancy-online.com to generate your correct lunar chart by simply keying-in or input your Western date of birth. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. Please note that generally, if one is looking at only the Chinese zodiac signs, often, many books written in the past would simply look at just one's Year-of-birth. Contrast this with the more advanced form of Human Luck readings i.e. Pillars of Destiny or Ba Zi or Eight characters. This one, can go further by looking at the Year, Month, Day, Time, Hour and some other pillars and their interactions to come up with something that is not so simplistic as just the "Year-of-birth".

Traditional Feng Shui
Dear Scott, Thanks for sharing with all of us, your personal views on this matter. The first thing that strikes my mind is the motto for Discovery Channel's endangered species: "If the buying stops, the killing can". We can draw a parallel, to the current situation with such "FS practises". "If the GREED stops, the buying can". But at last, unfortunately, these people prey on our "GREED" to succeed and also portray a certain mystic of buying such commercial products". As the saying goes: "There will always be fools, to fill many shoes!" Personally, a single web-site is like a `drop' in the ocean. And unfortunately, the sale of products are simply too great a profit to miss that in my opinion 9 out of 10 Feng Shui websites "will already be corrupted" by the huge profits to be gained. Here, many practitioners, in my opinion would not twitch an eye to sell us all sorts of stuff - some even incompatible with our culture! Looks like, it is a losing battle:( Warmest Regards, Cecil I feel best

Square water pond
Dear Caroline, Further to what I had mentioned:- Make sure that the corner of the pond is not aimed at "vital areas" e.g. main door entrance. In fact, in general Feng Shui, many practitioners would recommend the placement of the water feature on the (left) side of the garden. Since the right side is said to bring with it extra-marital affairs. (Where one stands inside the house looking outwards). Contrary to popular belief, it should not be placed directly in-front of the main entrance. Or blocking it. Again IN GENERAL, many FS practitioners would favour the placement of a water position (in harmony with the compass direction.) Thus, many FS practitioners favour the placement of a water feature at "wood" locations such as the East and South-East (both wood locations). Or north. Many FS practitioners are not in favour of locations such as West or SW (since these are metal location) Both the domain of the white tiger as well as too much water here, is said to create an imbalance. Since the water, will draw out the metal. However, the more advanced is the use of Flying star Feng shui to locate sectors with favourable water star positions such as #6 (big metal). Here, or at such a sector, metal interacts with water to create wealth. If one is not sure, may have to check with competent practitioner on the used of the Flying star Feng Shui. Since, one of the key success of a Flying star chart is to locate elements at each sector and balance them. If the major renovations include things like hacking of living room floor tiles and repainting of the entire house, then your house would certainly had shifted to Period 7. Things like the above and removing the roof tiles or removing the main entrance door, would certainly change the period to Period 7. Although, this statement is pretty short - but, it generally sums up a "perfect" situation that most of us would like to have for our home/office etc...! In fact, this is considered a `tall order' in one single message. For the people, who want to D.I.Y. then, apply as many sound FS concepts as possible. For those who do not have the patience or expertise, then, should seriously consider hiring a competent FS practitioner. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ai Ling, In my opinion, there should not be an issue, other than it may look unsightly. Warmest Regards, Cecil Ai Ling

Your services are one of the best I have seen...
Hello Robert and Cecil, I would like to offer compliments. you have a great web site offering excellent content. its focused and comprehensive and distinguished in the field. In the English speaking world, your services are one of the best I have seen. I understand you are offering a commercial service, concurrently you also make available informative services to a very large audience, which is excellent. I feel saddened that there are those western modern stylists who claim to practice fengshui. browsing the on-line sites of these con-artists, they are mere fronts for hawking goods at crazy prices. I am only curious of how to drive these bad elements out, as they are degrading a very well practiced tradition and cultural asset. Best Regards, Scott Chen 8 November 2003

How to improve the luck in my house
Dear Anon, Further to what I had mentioned, most of us are aware of the Holy trinity of Luck. Often, the third dimension: Human Luck or Man Luck can pull down our luck especially if there are frequent quarrels in a home or unhappiness. Therefore, besides, Heaven Luck, and Earth Luck (Feng Shui), harmony in a home can help to boost one's luck at home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

How to improve the luck in my house
Dear Anon, If one had lived in a home (intial years were ok), but later, not so favourable, would suggest that the time dimension of the home - has exert an inauspicious influence. In general, I have not looked at it from other concepts in Feng Shui other than Shapes and Forms. (Please refer to attachment) Under Shapes and Forms:- 1. In one of the rooms, the bed is facing the bedroom door. This is inauspicious: known as the coffin position. 2. And the two bedroom doors A and B face each other. Often, in some situations, when a child grows older, it may seem that both parties may become loggerheads with each other. One traditional Feng Shui method (hopefully it is not too late) is to place a red dot on the door knob key hole on each door. Here, when one closes both doors, there is a red eye that seems to "see each other " eye-to-eye. Often, a proper Flying Star Feng Shui can uncover, imbalances in the home. What I mentioned above, is purely on one dimension: Shapes and Forms Warmest Regards, Cecil However after 5

Cure based on elment of Wu Gui
Dear Vikas, Apologies, I have to read between the lines, as I really do not like, going thru a chunk of information, that has too many values (computation values) for analysis. In Feng Shui, there are some misconceptions on the locations of North and South. Some would totally advise avoiding placing fire at the North. Since fire and water does not mix. Alternatively, at the South, some say cannot have water positions in this location. In my opinion, this is a wrong conception. In many cases, some Feng Shui practitioners have (even by mistake) allowed water to be at the south and fire at the north and vice versa. This interaction between the two, is contrary to the above perception. I believe, some Feng Shui experts have used this two combination to create an interaction. Where water - mixed with fire - result in a reaction which many of us can see - "smoke" or lets call it "Holy smoke" or vapours. And vapours or qi is favourable to Feng Shui. Recently, I had posted a few examples of why it is advantages to have a centrepoint location that is clear space or flux. Imagine this: when air comes into a window from any one of the points of the home, some of this air (we can call this high pressure zones) push air or some of it to the centrepoint. When air reaches this centrepoint, it creates a vacuum or low pressure. And vice versa. And at low pressure points, air is drawn out from other points in the home. Thus, continous high-low pressure points create an invisible vibrancy of air movement circulating within a home. (assuming that windows even if they are closed have gaps. Let us not forget that a home is unlike a submarine - full airtight. A home always have gaps where air can come-in or go out. Warmest Regards, Cecil Will

After consulting 2 .. Feng Shui Advise
Dear Ng, Please see below:- Here are some considerations: 1. A year ago, this person, e-mailed me, mentioning that he had his home Feng Shuied twice. He mentioned that this lady FS practitioner came to his home, scribbed some things (did a lousy job), and asked him to follow the instructions. Since, he had hired her, he felt that he had to follow her instructions. 2. Later, he hired, this Feng Shui practitioner. the user mentioned that he did his best, but after the Feng Shui, he faced more problems. 3. I asked him to scan or fax a layout and his landscape plan (street directory) view. I was so "shocked", because, his block and unit was attacked by two schools: one a primary school and another a secondary school. 4. The attack was in the form a the two schools shaped much like a pistol and a shotgun respectively. Here, this is known as `penetrating sha qi'. Cannot see but can be very bad for the people staying in the block. 5. This is because, after I had posted this findings in the forum, 4 more users, had wrote in to me! Telling me that they also faced the same situation! 6. Here, no amount of money or buying whatever figurines can help. And it is no point taking another look even by any other Feng Shui masters. 7. In the past, I had drawn an analogy: If one's house or apartment is equivalent to a second-hand 600 cc car; it is not possible to revv it up to a turbo charged v8 engine car! 8. The saying goes: "Pay for what one gets". Here, taking another view point: if one has a family of 8. How to squeeze into a mini-clubman car? Less we tie two members on the roof top and squeeze one family member into the trunk. 9. Here, more likely we have to buy an MPV vehicle already. 10. I am not saying that your home has this situation. But, no harm to check the exterior for threats. - To be safe or to rule out this situation. 11. Many local Feng Shui practitioners, in my opinion can be quite "academic". Some can draw perfect Flying Star charts, but, do not look beyond the 4 walls of a home. 12. Frankly, one can pathe a house in gold, but all else collapses outside the four walls - what is the use? 13. Within the interior, the few things one can do are: 13.1 Fix as many leaks as possible. 13.2 Hopefully, the two FS `masters' did not bombard your home with too many worthless figurines, wind chimes etc... In a small home such as a HDB apartment, things if all else can get even worse! Too many clutter, is not going to help. 13.3 In my opinion, it is not a matter of whether one can consult another practitioner but rather: "Is it cost effective?" Here, one has already forked out quite a tidy sum paying both. 13.4 And, as mentioned above, realistically, the key success of Feng Shui is to firstly, see if we, humans can harmonise with the home. Especially in the area of health. 13.5 But if one aims to get instant wealth after a Feng Shui audit - think again! This is because, an apartment or flat has much influence coming from the Exterior! Of the home. 14. Or the exterior plays the most important consideration! A `lousy' exterior or lousy shapes and forms -- means, no matter what, one cannot squeeze out more than what the house can or cannot give us. 15. Thus, often we hear the words : Location, location, location. 16. The rich are different: They often have the means to get choicest locations/ landed property etc... And for many, not only are their homes good; What this means is that a home should not only have good or favourable Feng Shui, but it also has the ability to `suck' wealth from it's surroundings or neighbours! Here, let the neighbours work hard and one sits there to collect the `spoils'. This is known as "Quantum Leap" in Feng Shui. And few can afford this! Or by luck. Under the Practise of Water Feng Shui, the best success is either thru the identification of a location that favours a water position or water star position. And this can only be looked at thru the proper use of Flying Star Feng Shui. The other consideration is thru Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. As to the "Water-Tiger element" - frankly, this is even proper Ba zi analysis. Under proper Ba zi analysis, one should be able to identify to the lowest common denominator: The Five elements concept. For example, if you had mentioned: I am a strong water or weak water or strong earth or weak earth. This makes more sense. The term `water-tiger' especially based only on the year of birth - is too superficial to be of any use. More importantly, a water position can be a double edged sword: If placed wrongly, bring more problems. Or worse, if it is not favourable to one's element, this is really bad. Arowana or no arowana. Gold, red or silver arowana, does not matter. Most likely, (I do not like to sound cruel) may end up on the dinner table. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Square water pond
Dear Caroline, In Feng Shui, there are two distinct advantages of using water:- 1. For a landed property, water at the frontage - would imply that there is `clear space' (and unobstructed) view. 2. The other key success of water is if it is as vibrant as a waterfall. Here, the water from this waterfall frictions with the air to create negative ions. Therefore, if we are talking about water positions, the above senarios are certainly, considered as "key success" for placement of a water position. 3. For the interior of the home, it can be a double-edged sword. 4. This is because, on my opinion, and from various other practitioners - wrong placement of water may result in either or combination of both marital problems, finance problems. 5. There are three major levels of analysis or "safe-guards". 5.1 Number 1: It is good that you check what element both you and your spouse is. For a strong earth person, it is OK to have a water position. But do take note that it is not the best solution. As a strong earth person, the best element that can help the strong earth person is still metal element, first. Only when metal has increased or metal `absorbs' the earth, then it becomes out of balance, and water can be used. Otherwise, water is not as valuable to the strong earth person. For a strong fire person, earth is still the best element to help the strong fire person. Thus, given the relationship, it is still OK to have a combination of metal and water to help both of you. 5.2 Often, a water position is placed at a location, `suitable' under Shapes and Forms. Most of us do so by our personal `feel' or six-sense. 5.3 Another 'safe-guard' is to use/apply the Flying Star Feng Shui to see whether a location can `sustain' a water position or not. Recently, there is a situtation, where I was called upon to check on a home. The owner, was plagued with lots of "scandals, legal entanglements". And it was found that that sector that they had placed a large fish tank (top and bottom) has bad #4 bad wood and it was combined with #1 and #4 and the interpretation of this two combination of stars spell - legal entanglements, scandals etc.. Here, there is already #1 water element and #4 bad wood. And, in addition, a fish tank with water was placed at the position to further fuel this situation. The morale of the story is: "Don't simply place a fish tank or water feature, just because, your neighbour does it:(" Warmest Regards, Cecil Our Which part of the Please advice.

Fish Tank Location
Dear Tracey, 1. For strong metal persons, (based on ba zi), water is still acceptable. 2. I can only roughly indicate: 2.1 Often, many FS practitioners ask their clients to locate a water position close to the main door area (often 1 metre away) - somewhere around this area. As this is just a general guideline. 2.2 For Flying Star period 7, there are many permutations of how west sector behaves under different directions of Period 7. Thus, cannot say for sure if this is the best direction. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Renovating while pregnant
Dear Maggie, 1. Yes, what you had described is a Chinese cultural belief or taboo. 2. And, many Chinese fear of repercussions such as not only complications but - the concern of a miscarriage. 3. This is especially so for the bed. For example, once pregnant, the Chinese believe that one must not shift or relocate the bed (on which the pregnant person sleeps on). 4. Even if one needs to move house; for example, NO CHOICE because they had sold the house before delivery, the pregnant person must avoid seeing the event i.e. moving her bed etc.... 5. As for the renovations in the kitchen, the stove is a major concern also. And where possible try not to remove the stove etc... 6. In fact, better safe than sorry. When pregnant, more importantly, the bed - should not be moved. As a last resort, some have bought new beds. 7. For example, a couple could be staying in their parents home prior to moving to their own. Here, either the pregnant person, stays in this house until she gives birth and for the 1st month after giving birth. 8. Alternatively, she does not participate or see any of the move of furniture to the new home. Alternatively she buys a new bed for her new home. And (do not see it installed). And move over. 9. Some other interesting points: 9.1. Do you know that traditionally the Chinese consider that when one first come out of the world he/she is already 1 year old! 9.2 This is because, the first 9 months in the womb is considered. Thus, when we check our birthday, in the western calendar, it could be "I am 5 years old". But traditionally the Chinese could say that their child is "6 years old". 9.3 Note: this does not affect the way the Chinese calculate ba zi. They still caculate based on the Lunar Calendar system. But for the Hong Kongers often, for convenience, they use the Hsia Li. 10. The Chinese couple often celebrates the 1st month after the child is born by giving away e.g. red eggs, and cakes. 11. This is because, the 1st month is very important and if a child pass thru this 1st month, hopefully, there is no issue on health etc... 12. Many Chinese prefer to wrap or cloth their child during and after this period. And often do not allow their bodies to remain unclothed. Warmest Regards, Cecil In Summary Indeed, the beliefs you have outlined pertain to traditional Chinese cultural taboos. Many individuals within this culture harbor fears regarding potential consequences, including complications and the risk of miscarriage. This concern is particularly pronounced in relation to the bed; for instance, it is believed that once a woman becomes pregnant, she should not alter or relocate the bed on which she sleeps. Even in situations where moving is unavoidable, such as having sold a house prior to delivery, the pregnant individual is advised to avoid witnessing the process of moving her bed. Additionally, renovations in the kitchen pose similar concerns, particularly regarding the stove, which should ideally remain undisturbed. It is often said that it is better to err on the side of caution; thus, the bed should remain stationary during pregnancy, and in some cases, individuals may opt to purchase a new bed instead. For example, a couple may reside in a parent's home before transitioning to their own; in such cases, the pregnant woman may remain in the current residence until after childbirth and for the first month thereafter. Alternatively, she may choose not to be involved in the moving process or may acquire a new bed for her new home, ensuring she does not witness its installation. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that traditionally, the Chinese believe that a person is considered one year old upon birth, as the nine months spent in the womb are included in this age calculation. Consequently, while a child may be recognized as five years old according to the Western calendar, a Chinese parent might state that their child is six years old. It is important to note that this does not influence the calculation of ba zi, which is still based on the Lunar Calendar system; however, for convenience, many in Hong Kong may utilize the Hsia Li. Additionally, it is customary for Chinese couples to celebrate the first month following a child's birth by distributing red eggs and cakes, as this period is deemed significant, and the hope is that if a child successfully navigates this initial month, there will be no further issues.

How Large Is the Free Space Appropriate
Further to what I had mentioned, Does it matter how large the Free Space Is? Another case study of centerpoint with clear space..... Attached, please find another illustration showing "clear space" at the centrepoint or flux of the home: 1. Although the toilet is quite close to the centrepoint (fortunately) IT IS NOT at the centrepoint. The saying goes "a (fortunate) miss is as good as a mile". 2. The centrepoint is clear space. And if we look at the layout plan, it is thus advantages for this centrepoint to be clear space. Where, air-entry points from nearly any windows of the house can bring in or bring out air. Be it from the balcony, main entrance, kitchen, bedrooms etc... 3. Here, just like the earlier sample, we can close our eyes and imagine that air pockets flux at this centrepoint. 4. The advantages of a Partition between the main entrance and the balcony 4.1 Here, qi cannot flow directly out of the house: from either the main entrance or the balcony or vice versa. 4.2 The partition, strategically position under the RED marking, allows qi (red lines) to be "diverted" towards the centrepoint or flux of the home. 5. Thus, I hope by now, you have a good grounding as to why, it is advantages for the centrepoint to be of "clear space". And it does not matter how wide it is. This is not the main issue - or key success factor. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Three doors in a straight row
Dear Jessica, Apologies, can you elaborate further... I am trying to figure out what you meant. Do you mean that when I open the first closet door, there is a second closet door (behind the first) followed by the third closet door (behind the 2nd). Or do you mean that the single closet has three doors in a row? Really apologies, but I am really lost, here. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Business & Personal Relationships
Dear Anon, 1. Much of what you had mentioned relates more towards "Human or man " luck factors. 2. Normally, as a human being, when young we were exposed or taught to live in a shared `community'. Perhaps for those who are priviledged, or have few siblings may tend to an "independent" loner. 3. In fact, all of us are born to different families. And each of us have different traits. 4. For example, even the type of games one play can roughly categorise the person. 4.1 For example a typical "loner" characteristics:- Perhaps, this person would prefer to play games such as badminton / squash or tennis. Or perhaps, this person would prefer swimming. Than other group activity games. 4.2 For those who are more extrovert, could perhaps would prefer games that require a team e.g. soccer, basket ball etc.. This type of game. 5. What you had written actually reminded me of my past! (When young, I was chaffeur driven until Pre-university). Imagine, my first public bus ride was when I reached 16 years old! 6. Most successful people are those who have good P.R, and good listening skills. For the Chinese, every parent would like to have their children get married. Looks like you are currently single. Many Chinese belief that by marrying, one may mellow down. But do becareful -- For some people, this can be the opposite! Nowadays, time pass very fast and many people, have lost opportunity to do so. There is a means to do this. E.g. in fact, we do have daily forecast. And even auspicious dates for every month/year. But, I strongly advise, looking at auspicious dates for major situations only e.g. when move-in to a new home or some major important function. Frankly, one should not go overboard or too obsessed with too many `rituals' or `taboos'. Here, it often means that (I do not like to sound crude) but, if we totally rely on predictions to manage our life, it is like, we cannot stand on our own feet! On the lighter side. What happens if there is a prediction for movement. For example, at 1.00pm -> avoid walking to the west. At 1.10pm, cannot go north? Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. the morale of the story: "Life MUST STILL GO ON"....

Renting of a home
Dear Wasis, 1. I would agree that since Period 8 is round the corner, a few more months to go (Jan 2004); it is better to complete the home under Period 8. Since the mouth of the home east under Period 7 is not exactly too good. 2. Frankly, my attention spell reading too many text is not too good. Perhaps, getting too old or have a habit to read between the lines. So please take caution of what I say under this Paragraph. (Unless some pictures) are attached. It was a waste that I did not keep a copy of an original home with this type of layout. This was because, if I am not mistaken, 3 years ago, this person, wrote-in for help with this type of layout configuration (see attachment). He was plagued with lots (and lots of problems). One look at this type of layout plan and, one would get the picture (symboically - very inauspicious). I do hope that your brother is not going to stay in something like this. I hope not. Warmest Regards, Cecil

cemetary in front yard
Dear Felecia, Usually, the major cause of concern for a landed property is to avoid underground water or sewerage pipes running under the bed. Here, a German study has found that there are high incidence of cancer where beds are located immediately above these pipes running below ground. Frankly, for the Chinese (especially) many Chinese FS practitioners would often, recommend not to buy the site. (Me included). This is because, the graves are at the frontage of the home. It would be better if the graves are (at least) at the back of the home. Given that your husband has cancer, it would not be too favourable to have such a home. For those who are interested in building a building, here. It is best to retain e.g. natural red brick tiles at the frontage. Since, red is the most yang colour. And natural kiln dried red/orange bricks are the best natural choice. Hope that your husband has a speedy recovery. Will pray hard for him:) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Facing MacRitchie Reservior
Dear Adeline / All, 1. Coming to the question of the toilet. 2. For those who are aware of the Chinese tradition, in the past, Chinese homes (landed property) do not have a toilet inside their home. Toilets are always away from the home. 3. Frankly, and logically, for an apartment or flat, there is not much one can do to remove the toilet from the centrepoint of a home. As we all know the plumbing is fixed. And it moves down from one level to the other. 4. This is considered ONE leak. And more often, where possible, there should be or to avoid if possible, MORE leaks. One leak can often be negated by other positive qi. But, if a home has more than 1 usually 2 or 3 major leaks, than, often it translates to financial problems. 6. Therefore, I cannot offer any more solutions to this. 7. Many traditional Chinese FS practitioners may suggest a bottle gourd or `hulu' placed between the WC and the wall close to the centrepoint. Well, there is no harm doing this. Since, it is a documented authentic Feng Shui practise. The water feature is It is preferred if either you or your hubby is not a weak fire or strong water person. This may not be compatible to either one's ba zi. As a "rule of thumb" many Feng Shui practitioners would often suggest a water feature especially a fish tank (just after the main door) e.g. on the left side wall - a few metres away from this main door. For a fountain, it is often more practical to place it at the balcony area. (If one does not have a balcony? Well, have to look at individual layout plan already). Warmest Regards, Cecil As for plugging Looking through the The water feature is Thanks once again.

How Large Is the Free Space Appropriate
Dear Jen, Please refer to the attached illustration. This illustration gives a useful idea of how important "clear space" at the centre-area of the home. Clear space at the centre-area can help the movement of qi (during the entire day). Where during a day, air flow can sometimes come from "one side" e.g. in the day, it can come from the balcony, bedroom area, while the evenings it may come from other areas. It is very good to have a home that has air flow (please see the red lines) all over the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Auspicious house in period 8
Dear Anon, 1. Frankly, this type of question is easy to write. But, never easy to reply to. 2. If you are truly interested in Flying Star Feng Shui, you should take up a course on it. 3. The saying goes " God help those who help themselves". 4. The next best option is to get Paid help from any competent Feng Shui practitioner. Often, here, you have to provide certain inputs to the practitioner. I often emphasied that, this forum is meant as: 1. A catalyst to help one understand Feng Shui 2. For good questions, one can often get a lengthy response. 3. If one goes thru some of the questions which although I had verified or approved but has to do with: My Gua Kua no is .... etc... You will often not see me replying these questions at all. Therefore, I appeal to all users to post constructive questions. And not questions that need me to analyse all the information ... etc... Frankly, in the forum, no one else cares about when a poster was born, select the best homes for them. These are TOO SPECIFC a question to be of any benefit for others. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Rebuilding of house
Dear Lola, The good news is that this year, the location of Grand Duke is at South-South West direction and not South direction. If your house is going to be completed this year or early next year (before the next lunar new year); your home is considered a Period 7 home (born or renewed during this period). I personally think that there should not be an issue with `offending' the grand duke for your home. Often, the safest method is for some people is to: 1. Move out during the renovations. 2. If this is not practical or possible, try not to supervise the work done. (For example, don't stand there to watch the ongoing renovation work.) Also wanted Given a landed property, in most cases, water feature is often if done properly pleasing to the eye. In general, based on your description, and on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, the water position looks ok. The only TWO caution are: 1. Do use a compass. Stand at the centre-point of the home. Hopefully, the water position is not located at West compass direction (270 degrees). Here, in many instances, we do not want to inadvertently open the `tiger's' mouth (hungry white tiger's mouth). 2. For a water position outside on the right side is still ok. But avoid having it inside the home. Here, the belief is that a spouse might have "wandering eyes - and may go into a extra-marital relationship." Hmmm.. your house sounds lovely! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Cure for Inauspicious Land Shape
Dear Anon, The best option here is - not to cause more problems with the profile of the development. Here, try to as possible, have the shape of the building in a rectangular shape. Avoid odd shapes like U, circle shapes etc... Proper landscaping of the development can help. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Facing MacRitchie Reservior
Dear Adeline, 1. Although you are a strong metal and husband is a weak water person - a water position is still acceptable. However, we found that 3. In a home, if there is a "leak" sometimes, we cannot go head-on to try to fix this leak. For some leaks, we may have to leave it alone or do something else - other than using a water position. 4. In your situation, and based on both your ba zi, I mentioned that it is still OK for you to use a water position. But, often, the best site should be chosen. And not just because, it has to be placed at a location - to plug a leak. Warmest Regards, Cecil

How Large Is the Free Space Appropriate
Dear Jen, 1. The key ingredient to understanding this is not so much as "how big" or "how wide" the free space is but rather the key word here is "THE FLOW OF QI (CHI)". 2. "Points-of-entry" Where possible a home should have as many as 3-4 points-of-entry. For example, in apartments; many good apartments e.g. Point-Block flats, have at least three facing directions or directions where air can flow into the home. For example, one area is the balcony area, the other is the main door area, the other is from the kitchen. The other is from the bedrooms etc... The more air entry and exit points, the better for a home. As it allows qi or air to circulate (healthy) in a home. 3. Coming back to the centrepoint. Frankly, I don't care whether or want to measure how big or wide the centre clear space is. BUT rather, with a clear space at the centrepoint; and depending on the time-of-day, air from various directions (windows) or openings can flow thru the home, passing thru / via centrepoint towards other areas; and vice-versa. This is truly, the meaning of a classic case of good air/qi flow. 4. Conclusion: When we look at a home, we should thus look at the bigger picture - and relate it to `qi flow'. For example, it is not about buying a vehicle. But rather, making sure that e.g. the vehicle is safe to ride in. Herein lies the difference.... Warmest Regards, Cecil
