Is it bad to have a tree in front of main door?
Dear Wilfredo, In order to confirm; if one is standing at the main entrance door and can see e.g. the tree trunk. Here, the tree trunk is said to be slicing into the main door. If so, then this is a `poison arrow' slicing into a house. This is considered a `Sha Qi' or inauspicious. And should be corrected. But if it is a young tree e.g. within a thin branch or more like a bush; then this will not pose a threat right now. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Follow the Leader' Element in Ba Zi
Dear Anon, 1. Overall, people with this type of chart forms a minority or a small percentage of people are in this situation. 2. Here, the definition of "follow the leader" is where one's self element is too weak for a balance. 3. In such a situation, one results in looking at the Pillars of destiny and finding the strongest element to use resulting in what is known as 'follow the leader" situation. For example:- Heavenly Earthly stem branch -------- ------- Year of birth Metal Metal Month of birth Metal Water Day Water Metal Hour Metal Water 4. In the above chart, one will notice that the person is "made up" of Number of Metal elements = 5 Number of Water elements = 3 --- Total number of elements = 8 === 5. In the above example, since there are 5 metal elements; this is known as the " leading element ". 6. Under the Five Elements concept: reference url: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm Metal supports Water. 7. In such a situation, Water element is considered the strongest element as it is supported by 5 metal elements. Where metal helps water grow. Thus, Water is considered as the leading element in the "follow the element concept". Warmest Regards, Cecil

Good luck corner (NW) is washroom and storage..
Dear Max, Usually, if there is a missing corner, we can try to redress it e.g. with mirrors etc... However, if a sector is deemed to be an auspicious sector is "occupied" e.g. by a toilet, etc... there is really not much one can do - to improve the situation. Usually, if we consider `sectors' it is but one of many sectors under e.g. a concept. Thus, lets assume that this concept or theory accounts for 20% of the total marks out of 100 marks. Within this 20%, if we divide 20% by 9; this gives 2.2 marks per sector. Thus, each sector only brings in 2.2 marks. Which is considered insignificant when compared to good Shapes and Form Feng Shui. Which can yield 50% of the total 100 marks. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Compatible Element to Weak Earth
Dear Anil, Weak earth person is the "reverse" of strong earth. For a weak earth person, it is thus favourable for him/her to have Fire and Earth element. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Good Chi-have hard time going to work
Dear Beth, Thank you for your information about yourself. To be frank, there are two considerations: 1. the office environment, may not be congenial for your type of work or 2. the job may not be suitable for yourself or may not have good support e.g. work companions. Or other aspects relating to other `sciences' such as Human Resource topics of motivation or even organization behaviour type of analysis. So far, Feng Shui is a holistic method and has several key concepts and theories and thus, at this stage it is difficult to pin-point whether Feng Shui can or cannot help in your office. For the office environment, one usually does not have any say as to the layout and even sitting positions unless one can influence this. In my opinion, you may consider re-organising the office if, you feel that the new layout can offer better interaction and `harmony', then, you may consider it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

General queries
Dear Vivek, Please see below:- Eight House is only one of the many concepts under Feng Shui. In my opinion, the top consideration is the Shapes and Form Feng Shui. If we give a total of 100 marks to Feng Shui, I would say that Shapes and Form Feng Shui can account to between 50 to around 60 percent of the overall luck of the house. For excellent houses, it can even account to 80 to 90 percent of the luck. Here, one do not even need Feng Shui and yet will be very lucky. Thus for an average house, the remainder 40 percent out of a possible 100 marks is allocated between e.g. Flying Star and Eight House Theory. Thus, if assuming Eight House takes 20 percent of the rest of the luck, it is still of secondary importance to Shapes and Form Feng Shui. Overall, if the disaster or death sector is at your main entrance, in general, this is said that the house is an unsuitable house to you. You should also consider the bedroom location and what intangible force is at this sector. Otherwise, there is not much one can do here. For personal self enhancement, for weak metal is Earth and Metal element. Please use the Free Pillars of Destiny Comparison Report at http://www.geomancy-online.com Warmest Regards, Cecil

New House Lot - Offset Lot
Dear Wendy, It is good to have the pyramid type roof or `swiss cottage' type of roof. The threat you mention can be neutralised and this is a consideration. Overall, besides the other points I mentioned, if you have the time, use the Eight House template to see which house is best suited for the breadwinner. In particular, it would be better if the main door is not the `death or disaster' sector for the breadwinner. For other family members and the breadwinner, check to see - in particular if the bedroom is suited for each family member - where possible. The other important considerations are the the toilet(s) should preferably not be at the frontage of the house. And if possible there is clear space at the centrepoint of the house. And toilet should preferably not be at the centrepoint. Otherwise, as mentioned above, the threat can be neutralised by using e.g. a day curtain to screen the window from the sharp edge of another house. The pointed roofs, and triangle peaks are advantages for a house as it is a house `on the offensive' and since many people do this, it would be good. If not, others may also do the same onto us. Warmest Regards, Cecil

New House Lot - Offset Lot
Dear W, Overall, if all the houses are offset, then there is perhaps not much choice i.e. you can select any of the units. Here, the ruleset " Once it cannot be seen it no longer becomes a threat' can apply. For example, a solution is to install day curtain to screen the window from this sharp edge. If your house has not been built yet, it would be advantages to have the pointed roof configuration e.g. ^ / \ / \ | | If you can, use the frontage with the `pointed' roof at the frontage (as a protection) for the house as opposed to the roof sideways. In addition, check to see if the house does not have a slop at the back. Where possible, the lot should be level on all sides (if possible). And avoid, drainage cutting or seem to bend inwards towards the lot. Consideration of the drainage drains is equally critcial as it can affect the auspicious or make the plot of land and house inauspicous. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Garage location? left or right
Dear Jason, Usually, it would depend greatly on your personal Ba Zi i.e. the position of the main entrance door rather than the position of the garage whether it be at the left or right side. As this changes totally the main door direction. If you like to consider, there is a specific report that we have specifically tailormade to look at Good Houses. This is the Paid Good House Report. And it analyses all 24 directions = 360 degrees and specific to e.g. the breadwinner. In my opinion, this is a worthwhile consideration and the direction of the main door can be an advantage for a new house/and for the owner. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

2 relationships already terminated in this house
Dear Anon, As there are various concepts and theories that affect this, perhaps, you may have to consider elimination:- For a start: 1. Stand at the main entrance and look out of it. Look for any poison arrow aimed at the main entrance such as a lone lamp post or any sharp objects e.g. neighbour' roof. Do the same for each window. 2. At the frontage of the house, are there lots of doors e.g. a set of main entrance door and many sliding doors. Here, too much doors or windows can make the house out of balanced and caused such problems. The above are two primary concerns under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. If the above not issues, than, more likely, it could be due to the birth chart of the house. And, perhaps, a Flying Star Feng Shui audit may help to look at it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

New house with hills behind
Dear Susan, Each house has to be looked at on a case-by-case basis. It depends on the distance of the house e.g. back of the house to the drop off point. And the gradient of this drop off point or slope. Overall, a large land has some advantages. Especially if the back is `spacious' or better off situation. In such a senario, if the proper `fencing' or ability to create a solid backing can be done, this can be acceptable. Therefore, no two houses are the same. It is best in most situations to create a `solid backing' at the back of the house and if possible avoid water positions. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Flying Star
Dear John, It would be good if North Double 7's is at the main entrance. If this is the living room water element would help the double 7's (metal) element flow. The double 7 metals would already be of use to destroy the #3 wood. And a good combination of the harmonious productive cycle of Metal -> Water -> Wood combinations can be considered here. However, it should not be activated if this is not the living room area or other rooms e.g. back area of the house. Since your wife is a Strong Water person, usually balance should be created first, to offset the Strong Water e.g. personal self with say `fire' e.g. wearing red. Since fire is not beneficial for a Strong Earth person like yourself. For the East, 9, 5, 5 and if your house is a Period 7 house, than year is also 5. Check whether anyone is staying in this area. If it is a bedroom, consideration should be made to neutralise this sector. The proposed solution is to use a 6 rod metal wind chime outside the window. Or use a pendulum clock inside the room. An alternative, is to use 6 coins but it is better to use the constant hammering of metal such as a 6 rod metal wind chime - in particular for this year. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Post Slicing my Front Door
Dear Ben, 1. The main purpose of the light is to `redress' the missing corner. 2. If your garden has an outline of the missing corner e.g. landscaping done so that when one has a top-view of your plot of land, it shows an outline or profile of the `missing corner'. If this has been done, then it is not a necessity to have a garden light point. If Para 2, is `available' i.e. if you have landscaping done - then it is not necessary. But if you want to place a lighting under this `condition' then, a low walkway light should be acceptable or the 1-2 feet tall type will do. 3. If there is no landscaping and you are using only a `street lamp' then, it is advisable to use a taller post e.g. 6 to 7 feet type. The purpose here is to provide `maximum' lighting for the area. (The ingredient here is to have a wider dispersion of lighting). Therefore a high level lamp is better choice i.e. 6 to 7 feet type depending on how much one drives the post down to the ground. 4. Usually, the lamp should not:- 4.1 become a poison arrow i.e. slicing thru any windows or doors. Usually this is not the case if it is diagionally set at the missing corner. But do watch out for it. 4.2 Ideally, the cover should `clear' circular type of lamp. Or lamps that `point symbolically upwards' eg. ^ / \ / \ | | type of configuration. And avoid it pointing downwards. 4.3 As you had mentioned, the other alternative is to use `spot-light' fixed on the side of the house pointing light towards the `missing corner'. But in my opinion, the best option is still the `street lamp' or as mentioned under Para 3 above .. (if no landscaping is done). Here, the lamp post when viewed from the air (top-down) would symbollically form a `DOT' to join the missing corners. This is the best alternative - when no landscaping has been done as mentioned under Para 2.. The type of lighting tube e.g. warm or cool-white light does not really matter. Both are acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Placement of the Ba Gua (Pa kua)
Dear Anon, If you have the time, do login to the website and go to the conference: " Photo Tours of Interest (with pictures) " and look for Part I, Part II and Part III of the various `models Ba Gua mirror. Alternatively, use the SEARCH feature in this forum to do a quick search instead. In the above resources, I have taken pictures and also mentioned majority types of Ba Gua mirror especially on their use. Most of the Ba Gua's available in the above resources would represent the mainstream of the most recent types of Ba Gua mirrors and their variants. If you have a picture, feel free to post it as an attachment to this forum. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Choosing a lot for new house
Dear Boss Peng, Thanks for the site/lot map. I now have better picture of the lot. In my opinion, this plot `lot 2' is not favourable since, it is downward sloping behind the plot of land and also between the North-West location. If the slope is not properly redressed, usual problem would be the result of financial problems for the breadwinner. If you can try to forgo this plot i.e. lot 2. As I find it inauspicious. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Main door facing rubbish chute
Dear Wendy, Due to many queries on the type of Ba Gua mirror to use, I have complied information on the various types. You need to login to the forum and goto this conference: Photo Tours of Interest (with pictures) Look for the recent messages e.g Part I, Part II & Part III. Where I not only list a description of each type but also show pictures of them. Under the above, you should use the type as mentioned under Part I - Ba Gua mirrors - the models applicable for your case are Model A, B, C or D type of Ba Gua mirror. Especially if there is a sharp angle of another building aimed at your main entrance door. The above file has explained the various `models'. If it is for curing "the rubbish chute", I personally feel that Ba Gua mirror may not be appropriate since - it is low level and does not have a poison arrow. If cleaned properly and since it has a cover, there should not be much of an issue. For which, using the Ba Gua mirror is too `strong'. Perhaps, if you can place two plants on either side of the house for the rubbish cute. As you had mentioned, 1st or 15th of a lunar month is overal an auspicious date. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Choosing a lot for new house
Dear Boss Peng, 1. It is very difficult for me to give a fair assessment based on general descriptions. However, I would not be too keen to recommend a house with a house on a slop as mentioned below ie. Lot 2. 2. There is a recent case here, where a user wrote in to say that the house which he had moved in recently was inauspicious. The house is worse than what you had mentioned. (Far worse). In fact, the house has a layer the ground level that is slopping downwards. Much like a `patch'. He had emailed me privately with a photo of the house. However, I did not get permission from him to show. Overall, it is best to consider the overall Shapes and Forms as top priority even if the house is suitable to a person. In my opinion, and in general, `Lot 1' sounds or seems to have better Shapes and Form Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Which house to choose?
Dear Serene, 1. 210 degrees which is (between 202.5 - 217.4 degrees) is considered as South-West. 2. Although you had correctly divided your house into 9 equal grids, it is much easier to use the " PIE CHART " method. I have drawn a rough sketch in the attached sample. It is preferred to use the PIE CHART method. Simply align the directions based on the actual compass directions. Warmest Regards, Cecil

New House
Dear Nina, With regards to the recent question about the breadwinner: 1. If both partners contribute roughly the same income - for purposes of analysis, e.g. under the Flying Star report, the male info is still used. 2. Under the Eight House, it is good to as you mention look at the intangible force at the main entrance for e.g. the husband and wife. 3. What happens if one is a East and the other a West house person? If possible, try to look at houses with main door combinations e.g.:- Better choices: Excellent/Irritation Prosperity/Irritation Health/Irritation Longevity/Irritation Excellent/Spook Prosperity/Spook Health/Spook Longevity/Spook The above are better choices (where possible). 4. Most of all, priority should be given to the `male'. 5. If the main door is at one's death sector e.g. for the spouse, this means that the house is the `least suitable' for her. However, if one can, the bedroom should be a better direction - to offset this negative feature. More important here is that the Shapes and Form Feng Shui should be good. With better Shapes and Form, it can help offset it. 6. For a resale flat, it is always good to find out the reason for the existing / previous owner's resale of the apartment. It is good to hear if the owner has for example, more family members e.g. children and that they are "upgrading" for the better. 7. A school next to a house - overall is OK. So long as the roof or any part of the school does not pose a poison arrow. 8. From your basic description of the resale flat, it sounds acceptable. However, do stand outside the main entrance and each room looking out to check for poison arrows. This is still correctable. Where possible, the house should not have roads surrounding the apartment as it may be affected by malnignant forces. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Master bedroom door position
Dear Anon, In my opinion, this is of secondary importance unless: 1. the toilet is next to the main entrance (at the frontage of the house). 2. or at the center-point of the house. Where one of the toilet wall does not share an external wall. Both cases usually have characteristsics related to financial problems. 3. Otherwise, in most cases, nowadays, it is very common to have an ajoining toilet to the master bedroom. 4. If the toilet door is facing the bed, then symbollically, one can use a table stand with a table lamp. Here, this is symbolic of a `screen' or partition between the bed and the toiet. 5. In addition, even if the toilet bowl is not directly visible, one should still close the toilet door when not in use. Warmest Regards, Cecil
