Dear Anon, 1. There is a difference between 2-3 and 3-2. 2. It is best to as you had mentioned keep quiet for a 2-3 (2mountain 3water) combination. 3. If it is the opposite i.e. 3-2, then this is considered a separate combination from 2-3. Thus one can still use constant effect of metal here. 4. Just last week, I had a client who had her master bedroom located at the East. She had constant health problems. The recommended cure is to: a. Use two separate sets of 6-coins at a distance of 1-2 metres each e.g. place one 6-coin at a corner and another 6-coins 1 metre to 2 metres away. In addition, if one is using a wind chime, it should be placed outside the window. Alternatively, place a grandfather clock inside the house for this year. This is because, a house Feng Shui would depend on various factors involving: Shapes and Form and Compass School Feng Shui. And since no two houses are the same; more information would be required. Perhaps, when you have found a `suitable' house, or prior to this, you can in the mean-time, if you are using the Compass School Feng Shui; e.g. use the Eight House theory to see which room would be best for your dad's recovery. Dear Wasis, 1. In my opinion, we hae to look at priorities or weighing of priorities in such cases. 2. Under the grand duke theory, it is more important to: avoid touching or disturbing the grand duke e.g. at South (this year - begining 12 February 2002). 3. For example, before; this coming Chinese New Year, I was " working hard " trying to maintain my garden e.g. digging earth at that location because it is situated at South of my house. I would (avoid like the plague) digging earth at that sector for the better period of this Lunar Year). 4. For the Grand Duke Theory, e.g. when fighting a war etc... we can continue to apply the `rule' i.e. to avoid confronting him i.e. facing him at South. But have him at our back. 5. But, for small homes, where one have permanent entrances, for many, there is not much choice but to use certain entrances even if " it may be considered to move against the grand duke ". Dear Tegoeh, In my opinion, Feng Shui if properly applied can help boost one's luck i.e. health, harmony and prosperity. But, I would not recommend quick fix ideas; unless one has already been `blessed' with good earth luck e.g. excellent Shapes and Form Feng Shui of the house - which can give a quantum leap in Feng Shui. Otherwise, one may have to do much of the investigative work to try to boost one's Feng Shui. Therefore, if one is doing D.I.Y. Feng Shui then, one have to spent some time to:- 1. Shapes and Form Although we cannot change much of our external environment, we can try to find out and enhance or neutralise threats to the site/house from any poison arrows or Sha Qi. For the shapes and form of the interior, one may have to understand the various concepts and apply them appropriately. 2. Eight House and Flying Star It is best not to provide me with the compass direction of the main entrance door; but rather, try to use the available tools to find out more of your home thru the Compass School of Feng Shui. Dear Grace, 1. Chinese Astrology signs:- a. 27 Jan 1971 to 14 Feb 1972 = Year of the Metal Pig. b. 17 Feb 1969 to 5 Feb 1970 = Year of the Earth Rooster. 2. Under the Chinese Astrology, the Pig is more compatible (excellent) match with the animal sign of the RAM (2003). 3. For the Year of the Horse, both the Pig and the Rooster has to be more understanding and tolerant of the Horse sign. 4. In my opinion, under Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny) - the Year and Day of birth are considered important for `compatibility' purposes. Thus, even if say one is thinking of having a child (in a year); it boils down to not only the Year of birth but on which day, the child is also born. These two would `affect' the compatibility. Dear Marko, 1. One would rarely if ever find Chinese lanterns with symbols of `autumn' or `winter' as symbollically these are not suitable on Red Chinese Lanterns. 2. In fact, symbolism is important in Feng Shui and you can in-fact, use the globe Chinese lanterns (with spring and summer) all year round. And change them when their colour fade-out or their material worn out. Furthermore, red is considered an auspicious colour and can be used all-round the year. Dear Anthi, It is best to grow plants in a garden. In my opinion, for plants grown e.g. on the balcony, or interior of the house e.g. in an apartment/flat it would depend on the type of indoor plant. Not all outdoor or plants that require sunlight can be grown in the house. It would therefore be nice if one has an area in the flat or apartment for natural sunlight to flow and open space especially the balcony area where rain water can at times `splash' on them. For indoors, in my opinion, planting plants can be quite tedious if there is not enough sunligh. And one may often need to bring them out to sun. Warmest Regards, Cecil

(To help best position your table). However, do take note that in the application of Feng Shui, there are lots more rulesets that need to be considered. For example, I feel that it is more important to give first priority to position of the work-top based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. If you using the Eight House Theory, it is best also to generate the Free Eight House report to see which room is best for you. Dear Anon, Based on Shapes and Form Feng Shui, it is best to place the fountain either within or at the balcony area (of the frontage). In Flying Star Feng Shui, we usually use it to locate the water stars e.g. #1's + #7's. However, if we are not using Flying Star but basing more on `intuition' then: 1. As mentioned earlier, if you balcony `has an opening' the fountain can be located at usually the `east' side or when one is facing or looking out of the balcony, try to locate it a the `east' side wall or open space. 2. Besides the balcony, and if you have an alternative `large frontage' especially if you house is rectangular in shape, the fountain can be located again at the `east' side of that wall or open space. 3. As you have given an example: WEAK vs WEAK i.e. weak fire vs weak water. Here, the binding element would have to be two binding elements: wood and water element: where wood is a necessity here. Where wood must be need to strength the weak fire person and to offset the introduction of water for weak water person. With this two elements, it will form a combination flow i.e. water -> wood -> fire (flow). 3. Therefore, any of the permutations of: WEAK VS WEAK WEAK VS STRONG or STRONG VS WEAK STRONG VS STRONG Any of the 5 elements in relation to the above can form a binding element. However, (red) doors are featured predominantly in many Chinese buildings (especially guarded with the two lion figurines on either side of the main entrance. Therefore, since this is considered an auspiciuos colour - to some people it means wealth or being prosperous and lucky. 2. Red is considered the most Yang of all the colours and represents the fire element. This is perhaps why some consider it `anger' as fire can mean `flaring up of temper' etc... 3. Therefore, in each case e.g. colour of red signifies prosperity while on the other hand it represents the `fire element'. 4. In Feng Shui, it depends. It depends on the Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny) of the breadwinner in relation to the `facing' or direction of the main entrance door. It can also apply under Shapes and Form Feng Shui (especially if the main entrance faces e.g. a cemetry... Therefore, both arguments (depending on each situation) as no two situations are similar may be correct. Thus, there is effectively no right or wrong answers for this type of question. However, the tradition for office opening is:- If a business wants to open business on the THIRD day of Chinese New Year e.g. 14th February 2002; traditional Chinese businessmen would go to their office on early morning of 13th Februray 2002 to `open' their office. They can then start work on 14th February or the THRID day of Chinese New Year. This blue dragon in Feng Shui is known as the dragon of the East. And symbolises, sunrise and fertility. The dragon playing in the clouds symbolises that it is the `source' of rainfall (good for agriculture). 4. In Mandarin the phonetic sound of a Fan is " shan " represents good. At the same time, many Chinese scholars or officials used to carry fans and even fans were frequently used by Chinese Immortals. Here, fan is considered an auspicious symbol as it is said to also help drive away evil.
