1. It has more to do with "Commonsense - approach to Feng Shui".

2. For example, many false ceilings are made of gypsum board and these are light weight materials. But, even if the owners don't have bad feelings about it, but, your guests such as friends and relatives may sometimes give comments saying that they read somewhere that this is not good!

3. And if we get too many negative comments, we ourselves may begin to feel not very comfortable with the false ceiling.

4. In Feng Shui, there is no major concern, here as you had mentioned, there is no major concentrated beam or load bearing structure. Thus technically, this is OK.

5. In addition, some install light fixtures and because they are light fixtures, allowance has to be given for it to be lower than the rest of some false ceiling designs. And these again are technically OK, but, it looks like a beam especially if it happens to run across the sofa seating area etc...

6. Thus, it has to do with our personal feelings towards it: i.e. feel neutral or feel simply uncomfortable with it. Otherwise, there is no lasting issue with it.

7. Again the story behind the above (partition cabinet) has more to do with symbolism then anything else.

8. The history behind this concern has more to do with certain designs of the partition cabinet than a straight forward - notion that all partition cabients are no good.

9. For example, some owners of homes happen to have partition cabinets with slanted slots to allow the "air within" the cabinet to flow or to "air" the cabinet. And these slanted slots may be built for the entire height of these shoe cabinets. And these are somewhat like "ladies skirts", one can literally see in-to the cabinets from these slots. Imagine, if one has many pairs of shoes like those of Imelda Marcos, former 1st lady of Phillipines; can see a rainbow full of coloured shoes.

10. In fact, close-by to the main entrance, if there are tall shoe cabinets, just make sure that the cabinet doors looks more like "flushed" cardboard doors than those with mesh or slanted "air" slots.

11. If so, it is still acceptable to have a shoe cabinet in a partition cabinet.
