Posted February 10, 201015 yr Staff Scientific name of this tree is: Plumeria obtusa. It belongs to the Apocynaceae family. And it is commonly called the Great Frangipani or temple tree and the Singapore Plumeria. This tree originates in Tropical America. It loves sunlight and moderate watering - very suitable to Singapore's climate. The most common colours are: White with yellowish centre and pinkish outline with whitish centre. It was very popular in Singapore during the 1930's to 1960's especially where landed property homes had larger gardens. And can afford to plant several trees in a larger garden. It is relatively easy or near maintenace free and it flowers all year round especially with the help with the bees... Nowadays, where many Singapore homes are more compact and fewer high class bungalows; this is coming to a rare sight indeed.
