I live in a period 7 house that is about to be renovated, the renovations include a new roof (good) and a new kitchen (good).
I believe this (new roof) could change the house to period 8 energy ?
My problem is.
When the kitchen is renovated the landlord intends to move a doorway to make the kitchen bigger.
The intended placement of the new door will create a situation where the front door is in line with the back door. Some people call this arrangement a shotgun house (If you fire a gun through the front door it will go straight out the back door.
Obviously this is not good for Feng Shui as the chi will tend to rush through one door and go straight out the other.
To make a functional kitchen there really is no option but to move the doorway and I don't have any influence over the landlords decision to move the door so I must adapt a solution to slow or disperse the chi flow.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Respectfully await suggestions.

Yes, using the term "shotgun" is indeed an excellent way to describe the situation!
As we are not aware of the exact layout; however;
Frankly, the most common or sensible approach(es) are:
1. Placing a partition somewhere between the two direct openings;
2. Closing a specific door/opening such that NO two doors or openings lead to your the "shotgun" effect.
3. Or a screen (need not be air-tight).
In essence; so long as there is a "barrier" between the two openings; this will have achieved the desired effect.
