Government's Asset Enhancement Scheme
1. Photos taken@ Teck Whye Lane showing a block of flat in the process of installing several lift shafts to ensure that each unit can be reached by a lift.
2. Formerly, such a block has a central lift and the lifts often only stops at staggered floors e.g. 1, 3, 6, 9, 11 floors.
3. One good thing about the lifts to every unit is to allow the elderly and allow for wheel-chair friendly access.
4. Previously this government asset enhancement scheme was a "carrot" used during every elections (in the past): "if you don't vote for me; you don't get such an upgrading". Many believe;in the 2016 elections; thisis no longer a carrot nor a stick. Ain't going to work anymore!
Note: The block that is currently being upgraded was built in 1979.
