Dear Master Cecil,
My home was built in 1982. We only bought it in 2008 and undertook rennovations of both bathrooms that included knocking down of one wall in 2011. Does the period change from 6 to 8?

In my opinion, there are two considerations:
1. Conservative School of Feng Shui:
In general states that only if the foundation(s) are torn down and re-bulit on or after CNY 2004, then the site building has changed qi.
2. Liberal School of Feng Shui:
2.1. Recently we read of even more fantastic ways to "change" Period. One of which (my toes are still laughing out loud) is to move out and move in again in specific period maybe 1 year. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.... What a "sick" *joke*
2.2. Even if some who belong to the liberal school of Feng Shui; I believe those who are still sane and not senile would still say what you had mentioned: both baths and knocking down one wall on it's own will ever not change period.
