I've a fs master who did a baseline of my place. He has identify a water element location.
I put a standard water feature. As you know over years, water feature come and go, and i would like to replace it with a small aquarium instead
I plan to setup a small 1feet aquarium with plants and guppies only (not into arowana or difficult to maintain fanciful tanks).
Does it matter if it is just a simple aquarium as long as it is quiet and clean water flow in tank? Or must i follow fengshui books like goldfish, arowanaa, etc ?

These are some considerations:

1. No issue with a water position be it a water feature or aquarium. Even in some landed properties; an urn with lily plants and some small fishes (fishes to prevent mosquitoe breeding is ok).

2. Nowadays; the more affluent even have large sea water tanks that have slightly thicker walls.

3. Traditionally, in the past a fish tank is often used to neutralize a lamp post etc...

4. For a hobbyist, any size of fish tank is fine or ok.

5. But if for the purpose of Feng Shui; often seek advice from the Geomancer. As often if the Geomancer used proper tools such as the Flying Stars; areas that may need a water feature to neutralize it may not be effective with only a small ..say fish tank of 1feet tank. This goes for a water wealth position as too tiny a water position may not be effective and may even be considered a waste of time in the name: father, son, and holy spirit of Fung Sway! These are some considerations:
