May I know which pattern is more auspicious for living room and why?

These are some considerations:
a. Frankly, from a micro-level one of the basis is to compare the designs to determine which element it belongs to. (http://talk.geomancy.net )
b. In general: 1 = metal element; 2 = earth element; 3 = wood; 4 = water (but due to jaggered edges should be avoided).
c. Thus designs with stars or pointed diamond shapes - if doubt avoid such wall papers.
d. Neutral wall papers are those in the examples: 5 and 6. Or those grainly rock-wall rough creased designs.
e. In addition, the colour of the wall paper should also be considered in addition to the design.
f. Furthermore, there is a purpose for this saying : there are just "too many indian chiefs". Thus, as there are many geomancers, there are many varied opinions on such issues.
