Hi Master,
I am confuse about my personal elements. I am born in 1982 ( Year ofWater Dog).
1 master says i belong to the Fire element using Fengshui calculations.
1 master says i belong to the Earth element using Zi Wei Dou Shu.
From your website, there is a Fire element in the Kua ( 9 - LI ) and also says my birth element as a weak yin Earth + metal Dog.

So may i know what is exactly my personal element? Thanks

1. In simple terms,"Zi Wei Dou Shu" can be generally considered as Chinese Horoscope or Chinese Astrology or Chinese Animal signs.

2. Please see attached example.
3. Chinese Horoscope orZi Wei Dou Shu is based on one's Year of birth. Thus a person born in 1980 based on his Year of birth is a Monkey. And his heavenly stem is a metal element. Therefore, he can be considered as a Metal-Monkey.

4. But Ba Zi does not only consider one's Year of Birth. Ba Zi element is based on one's DAY of birth.
4a. In this example: if you check his chart, his DAY of birth is a water pig.
4b. Please note that not all Ba Zi charts are equal. Some geomancers for convenience does not take into consideration TWO additional charts: House of Life and House of Conception.
4c. House of Life can affect the final outcome. For example : either a WEAK or STRONG chart. Thus in this example, this person was ultimately considered as a weak Water person.

So i should say that my personal element is Earth rather Fire from the KUA( 9 -LI ) right?

1. In mathematics: the key here is the Lowest Common Denominator.
2. Kua or Gua needs just one INPUT = Year of birth.
3. While Ba Zi or one's personal element is based on at least THREE Inputs :
Year
Month
Day
Hour (nice-to have)
4. Thus if you are looking at Ba Zi then it is based on one's personal element.
4.1. But if one just want to know one's Kua or Gua. Which is used by Compass School : Eight House then it is used, here.
5. Please check out or re-confirm for yourself. As the info here is only your year of birth. And make sure that you get also your birth-day, month and even hour correct to derive whether your element is "Earth". As a person whose birth date is 1.1.1982 will differ from someone whose birth date is 12.1.1982.
