I do aware altar should not place in-front of staircase even block by a wall, but in this case, If the stairs "mouth" wasn't pointing to the altar wall, is this allow? Thanks in advance

In general, there are still homes that does this. The plus is that the  partition wall is of full height.

However  there are many other considerations. For example: say if the altar sitting SW facing NE:-

Less than ideal if it is not as shown in the photo where the partition is not of full height.

Here, common sense says that if something were to accidentally fall off the steps eg. A child's toy.. it may just fall towards the altar - if it is not fully enclosed with a roof over it.

In addition, if the partition is half height, the "smell" feet.. flowing towards it is not a good idea.

Yes, the altar is facing NE facing the main door but how do i tell if it's sitting which direction? Sorry for the dumb question. Any impact on it?
