I want to find out the direction of my house, but I still confuse how to use the compass. I don't know if the direction of the house based on the direction of the compass when I hold it facing into the front door or facing out of the front door. And then after I figure out the center of the house, how can I find the eight direction of the house and each individual room. If my house has a protruding part as a garage, so it has a L shape, do I need to count this part to calculate the center of the house?

I am not sure if you have followed the steps shown under this URL:

For the garage, (protusion) you should `ignore' this from your layout plan.
Next mark the centre of the house layout plan to find the centre of the
house.
After this, stand at the centre of the house and from here use your ordinary
compass to find the direction of your main entrance door. For an `L' shaped
house, one can even `split' the two L shaped into two rectangles.

Step 5 - Determine the Centre of your house to see graphic illustrations.
The graphic illustrations also included a house with garage and an `L'
shaped house.
