La = "That one" in Italian Mala = This word is composed of a combination of two Mandarin characters 麻 = numbing and 麻 spicy (hot). Mala goes together with the word sauce = Mala sauce = this flavours the food with a combination of Sichuan peppers and dried chilli peppers. In recent years, many local food courts and kopitiams sell this dish. Puasa = Malay word for fasting.. Thus this elderly lady calls her new condo: "That spicy one .. so better puasa, instead" Huh?
