Dear Master Cecil,

I am writing to ask for your advice and guidance. Unfortunately, my uncle passed away recently and we are still planning to have our wedding in just five days. I am not sure what to do in this situation. Should we uninvite the relatives on my uncle's side of the family? I would greatly appreciate any thoughts you have on this matter.

Cruel as it sounds, unfortunately if one is Chinese (as can’t tell from your account name); best to uninvite.

Blame this strictly on our Chinese culture. Bo Pian (Hokkien for no choice).

Thank you so much for your advice Master Cecil.

yes I’m Chinese, may I clarify if I need to un-invite all of my uncle’s siblings (my other aunts and uncles), and their children as well?

On one hand this is our Chinese culture.

In the past there is a matriarch such as a grandmother.

Or best to seek out your parents mum or dad. Who are also the parents of your uncles for advice. Seek their advice or guidance. This is by far the best approach so as not to hurt relationships with the uncles. Next in is to seek parents advice.

However, if cannot rely on this, I have mentioned the obvious already. So don’t ask me again. As it goes into a circle again.

The Final Say is that of the Matriarch

or also known as "The God-Mother of the Family

Here, the God-Mother (God-Ma)'s word is the LAW.

And also as the father, uncle(s) are her children, no one can give offence to their decision.

Okay, Okay, To bad, if family don't have such a Matriarch. END OF STORY!
