Simply find it interesting to be highlighted under our Current Affairs and Lifestyle Thread. Noteworthy that I am slightly older than the store. LOL

along Sembawang Rd ... Gin Thye

Gin Thye (established in 1964)  is a traditional bakery recognised by the National Heritage Board and well known for its old-fashioned Asian pastry.
It was started by Lim Bak Chai and his siblings in the Sembawang area.
The 50+ years old shop is still there even as the bakery has passed on to the next generation and expanded to other areas.
Gin Thye is apparently the largest traditional confectionery here.

Gin Thye products cover a wide range from pineapple tart & tou sa bing to Swiss rolls & wedding cakes. There is also a wide range of old school biscuits.
Their specialities are traditional Chinese pastries and wedding peripherals such as wedding pastries and baskets, betrothal sets, dowry sets, bed setting sets -
in fact almost everything a traditional Chinese wedding custom requires.
There is also wide range of kueh for other religious celebration such as Huat kueh, longevity and peach bun.
