Dear Cecil,
1. I understand that mirror should not directly face the main entrance. However, can I hang pictures facing the main entrance? The glass on the frame also reflects right?
2. My main door entrance faces my neighhbour's door entrance. I understand that I can hang a ba gua on top of the exterior door. However, can I hang a plate, with a shape of the ba gua only? I actually want to paint some flowers on the plate. I thought if the shape of the plate resembles a ba gua, I use that to substitute a real ba gua. Is that true?

It is advisable not to hang a mirror facing the main entrance. But this can still be done, especially if one has done a full Feng Shui audit.
Usually, pictures e.g. nice paintings or calligraphy are acceptable.

If your neighbour is a Chinese, it is advisable not to hang a Ba Gua mirror or even the shape of it. As this may trigger a Ba Gua `war'.
A Ba Gua `war' is a lose-lose situation. Nobody wins.
I recounted, a situation, where I noticed one neighbour placed a ba gua mirror on their main door. The neighbour had no choice but to place a convex Ba Gua mirror to reflect back. No one wins here.
Although you quite rightly mentioned that the profile of the Ba gua mirror plate is acceptable but if it does trigger a `war', this is no good.
The ideal situation here is to close the main door once you return to your home.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
