I read that water should never be at the back of your house. I am on a 20 acre lot, rectangular shaped, running long front to back, wide open space. My house sits back from the road about 250 feet then the property continues about another 1350 feet. The pond is at the very back left corner of the property, the house on left as well.
There is a barn in between. Is the barn enough of a block or should I build a fence?
Also is distance a factor? The pond to me seems far enough away not to pose a threat. I cannot see it from the house.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi,
Based on the four symbolic animals concept, water should not be behind the
house. But see the good news below:-
There is one major principle of Sha Qi (bad ch'i) that is if it cannot be
seen, no longer becomes a `threat'.
In your case, your property is "exceptional" because it is huge. As
mentioned above, if you cannot see the `threat'
under Feng Shui principles, it no longer becomes sha qi in your case, it is
further helped by the barn.
In your case, I personally feel that there is no need to build a fence.
The only point I like to bring to your attention is the short write-up I
wrote on dangers of underground water. If you have the time, the url is :
http://www.geomancy.net/fs/under.htm
As your property has a pond, and it would be best to take note of the above
article and if you have a geology study done, check that underground water
does not flow through (below) your house. In the short article, one tell
tale sign of underground water flow is the incidence of sickness (leading to
cancer cases).
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
