Posted June 28, 200025 yr Dear cecil,Mapping of human genome is one of the greatest achievement of the new millennium and it will change the way diseases are treated in the future. Do you think mapping of genome will have any impact on chinese medicine. Will it change the way diseases are treated in chinese medicine. Thanks.
Posted June 28, 200025 yr Staff Dear Anon,1. I believe everyone is happy to learn of this greatest achievement which can bring added years to our children. For us, lets hope that there are some breakthru's at least.2. Last one or two days ago, I read in my local newspaper that English Hospitals are including/introducing acupuncture as part of the `cures'.3. In my opinion, the breakthru's of this research has more firstly to do with `preventive' medicine i.e. testing out people to check for specific diseases. And if possible offer a `cure' especially for younger people. While existing medicine, at least for the next decade or two or more would still have to be used for `older people' who do not have the opportunity perhaps to have some `cells' replaced.4. Certainly a great cause for JOY!Warmest Regards,Cecil Quote On 6/28/00 5:25:00 PM, Anonymous wrote:Dear cecil,Mapping of human genome is oneof the greatest achievement ofthe new millennium and it willchange the way diseases aretreated in the future. Posted July 6, 200025 yr Staff This article is quite interesting:1. The article mentions that China was the only developing country that contributed to a 1 percent mapping of human genome.2. How China is making an effort to map the genome of pigs or porkys.Warmest Regards,Cecil
