Hello,
Good day to you.
Currently, I am in the midst of preparation to renovate my new house and
I need to seek your expertise advice before confirming the requirements
to the contractor.
1. In the master bedroom, there is a beam at the wall where I want to
place the bed. I understand that I have to box up the entire wall to
level up with the beam .
I want to know if it is possible to box up just the lower wall
portion? (few inches higher than the bed headrest)
2. Where is the best position to place the wall light? Facing the bed
or at the side of the bed? Which is better, the wall light or table
lamp placed beside the bed?
Your prompt reply is greatly appreciated.
Many many thanks.
Best Regards,
Chin

If the beam does not `press' down on any part of the body particuarly the head, it is not a threat.

You can apply the concept " If one cannot see it, it no longer becomes a threat ". So long as it is covered varing the height of the wall, it is ok.
Where possible, give a higher height i.e. minimal false ceiling would be a better alternative as it gives a feeling of "space" rather than an enclosed feeling.
The other alternative is to use two bamboo flutes e.g.
-------------- beam
/ \ use two flutes
/ \
--------------
Place two wooden flutes to form the top profile of a Ba gua trigram.
Here, the wooden flutes represent the Wood element where wood is used to destroy Earth or the beam.
If you can obtain a flute - one flute with a dragon symbol and another with a phoenix, the dragon symbol flute is placed on the East or the Right while the Phoenix flute at the west.

A table lamp is useful if your bed is next to the toilet door. A table lamp is symbolic of a `partition' between them.
For the bedroom light, it can be above the bed and another light behind the bed. There can be both lights - no problem.
The concern here is not so much of the light above the bed or behind the bed but to avoid lights that may inadvertently become poison arrows. For example choose lighting that is rounded or designs that do not have pointed edges or corners.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
