We are renting a home for a few months and the stairs run right into the front door at the base and run into a bathroom at the top. I understand the stairs are considered poison arrows when this occurs. What can I do to combat this so as not to bring us bad luck.

Dear Sherri,
1. The most effective method is to use a screen (where possible). Otherwise, an `average' alternative is to use plants on both sides of the stairs. Or hang a beaded screen above the ceiling down (the effect is to screen the stairs from the main entrance
2. For the toilet above, close the door when not in use.
