We have seen double storey house on a piece of land. The land has a wide entrance ( 23m)
is downward sloping and narrows at the back to 12m. Are there problems with this shape or is this ok?

Dear Subhas,
In my opinion:
1. Although the plot of land is wide at the front and narrows to the back, check that the house does not have an odd shape. Preferably the house should be rectangular in shape. The rest could be the garden area.
And proper landscaping can help to reduce the profile of the wide (front) and narrow back.
2. It would not be auspicious if the house where it sits on the land is downward sloping. The entire house should be on level ground.
However, the back can be downward sloping. Where possible, proper drainage and if the house is on a hill, it depends on the construction or proper construction such as sinking of the piles and steps taken to prevent soil erosion.
3. In addition, the amount of rainfall for that area should also be taken into consideration.
It is usually due to poor construction and the cumulation of rainfall that causes instability to the ground of a house. Which may lead to soil erosion and ultimately the collapse of the home.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
