I personally recommend to those who want to take accurate readings can use the following brands of compass:-
Brand A: SUUNTO of Finland

Brand B: SILVA of Sweden
Models to look at include their:
SightMaster model or Mark IV or Precision M80 or Ranger series...

I personally feel comfortable using either SUUNTO's or SILVA's brand of compass as the professional `series' compass have mass and are not affected as much to magnetic influence especially reinforced columns.
