I've installed an octagonal window in my bathroom on the 2nd floor and the Chinese neighbour can see it from a door on the first floor. She is offended by it. Does that make sense? I thought that shape was good. How can my window bring bad luck to someone else????

Dear Monique,
Although the octagonal window does not pose a `threat' i.e. poison arrow; most probably, there is an element of `superstition'. Perhaps your neighbour felt that now, the bathroom `became' obvious and to them, it could be that it is thus considered inauspicious to have their door distinctly `facing' the bathroom.
