Dear All,
It is very common to use a pair of Lions (on both sides of the main entrance or gate) of many Chinese buildings.
Under the Five elements concept, Lions are considered as of the Metal element.
If you have read some of the messages in the forum, Metal element is overall, a good element as opposed to the use of `Earth' or `Wood'. Where in certain circumstances, these two elements i.e. Earth and Wood would not be suitable. As they may cause additional inauspiciousness.
Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank is indeed `famous' for using a pair of Bronze Lions on each side of many of their buildings.
Lions made of concrete and white are still considered as Metal element. Since they are white (white signifies Metal element).
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
