Dear Leanne,
In my opinion, your question is too general.
To learn more you could either:
1. Purchase some starter books on Feng Shui. Majority of these books are of the Shapes and Form Feng Shui. It is best to apply either " Traditional Feng Shui " or " 9 Star-Ki " Feng Shui.
I would sincerely recommend you not to touch any resources associated with "Black Hat Tantaric Sect" in short: BTB or books associated with `Lin Yun'.
2. You can also browse thru the Free resources in this forum where, it involves real people and real situations or if u have the time to go thru some of the resources at Geomancy.net.
