Recently I bought an oil painting depicting a resting and friendly tiger. I was later told by a friend that it's not advisable to hang a tiger painting in the house without consulting a Feng Shui Master.
I was born in Dec 1966 (year of the Horse) and my Kua no. is 7, whereas my wife was born in Dec 1975 (year of the Tiger) and her Kua no. is also 7.
Please advise. TQ.

Dear YC,
Yes, symbolism is very important in Feng Shui:
1. Most importantly paintings must not show animals that are `fierce'; too thin; on the prowl & looks hungry etc...
2. Since, you have mentioned that the painting is a resting, friendly tiger, in my opinion, this is acceptable painting.
Where possible, place this painting in areas where there is clear space e.g. living room area. And not in enclosed or small confines of a bedroom.
3. Other types of paintings:
3.1 Paintings near main entrance or living room area:
If one is using traditional Chinese paintings, one can use e.g. paintings such as 8 or 9 koi fishes. To symbolise clear space. Calligraphy is ok.
3.2 Paintings at the dining area:
Flower paintings, fruits are usually ok. Sometimes if this area has a large wall.
3.3 For those who are in business, some favour placing a painting with horses, "rushing out of the main entrance door". Symbollically, this implies to go out and get business.
The above are more common types of paintings.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
