I am looking for an apartment. I wonder which is considered the main door, the wooden entrance or the glass sliding door at the balcony. The balcony is facing a hill. Will it considered to be a bad feng shui?

Dear Vi King,
1. In my opinion, the compass reading for the purpose of determining i.e. the Flying Star chart and Eight House Chart. It is best to use the wooden door entrance.
2. Looking at the `brightest side' or frontage of the house is:
2.1 It is very easy for anyone even say a practitioner to regard e.g. the sliding glass window(s) as the "main entrance" area. But, usually this is quite a large area spanning many degrees. The question asked is: if there are many sliding panels? where do we place the location of the door?
2.2 Here, it is easy to say, but difficult to apply even for a FS practitioner. Even, say a FS practitioner pointed out (if there is 4 panel sliding glass door); one has the right to ask: why do you consider it at panel 1 instead of 2, 3 or 4?
2.3 I am not sure, whether it is done geniunely or to impress clients. But I have heard also that some FS practitioners may say such things but again, always ask why?
2.4 This is because a simple 3 or 4 panel sliding glass door can make the compass reading deviate by at least 15 degrees even within the reading here.
2.5 And under Flying Star, any 15 degree reading off, will give one a completely new chart.
3. The balcony is facing the hill.
3.1 Generally, this is considered as inauspicious.
3.2 It has to be looked at; at a case-by-case basis.
3.3 For example, for those who have the time, do check out the conference: Photo Tours of Interest (with Pictures) and look for The Sterling Condominium.
3.4 Under this condo, everything on the surface looks inauspicious:
- a triangle plot of land
- many units facing the Bukit Timah (hill) reserve).
But it is an exceptional development where contrary to above, it is auspicious.
4. In your case, it also depends on the distance between your home and the hill. The view from your balcony. The height and profile of the hill. For now, I cannot completely say that it is `inauspicious'.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
