Posted March 11, 200223 yr I am buying a piece of land for residential purposes. It is sitting on top of a hill with river views at the back. The front is facing North with the river on the back/south. Is it considered good Feng Shui to build a house on this land?
Posted March 11, 200223 yr Staff Dear Yew-Meng,Frankly, it has to be looked at on a case-by-case basis. For example, if there is a river, the contours of the river in relation to your environment/site and location. Also the size, gradient and the `interaction' of the hill with other features on the ground and the river is another consideration. Even the type of rock formation should be taken into consideration. As an exposed hill or a hill bearing more than it's fair share of weight/gravity, may or may not be affected by e.g. landslides etc...Overall, I can't say for sure at the moment.Feel free if you have a section or topo of the profile e.g. `street map' you can upload it to the forum for some comments. (More details the better.)Warmest Regards,Cecil Quote On 3/11/2002 10:01:00 PM, Anonymous wrote:I am buying a piece of landfor residential purposes. Posted March 12, 200223 yr Thanks Cecil for your prompt reply. The land site that I have mentioned have not other hilly formations. The river is sandwitched between a valley which has housing on both sides and the land site that I mention sits on the top of one side. The slope on the back towards the river is approximately 60 degress and to me the river is relatively stright except that it is bowing slightly to my side of the valley. Also the house number is number 4, is that inauspecious in feng shui terms? Thanks again.Regards, Yew-Meng
Posted March 12, 200223 yr Staff Dear Yew-Meng,Frankly, I hope you understand that it is still difficult for comprehen whether the site is auspicious or inauspicious.Overall, what you had mentioned, made sense i.e. with rapid development on the site or land is good as it means that by 10 years time or more, the area would most likely be fully developed. And from what you had briefly mentioned, there seems to be a good harmony between the river and the hill i.e. the hill is in an embrance with the river. It would be particularly good if the river you had mentioned is meandering and not too straight especially if it is not at the end or near the mouth of it. Perhaps, in the future, if you can provide some photos it would be nice. For the hill area, it should not be the only property or if so, there should be sufficient trees etc... else winds blowing directly at a house is not ideal. Especially if it is barren land and offering no protection to the side of the house.Warmest Regards,Cecil Quote On 3/12/2002 1:03:00 AM, Anonymous wrote:Thanks Cecil for your promptreply. Posted March 14, 200223 yr Cecil's Attached Note: Yew-Meng, appreciate if you can attach the picture again as it did not show up in this message. Thanks, CecilHello Cecil,Further to our conversation, I have attached a copy of the land site that I was speaking about. The meandering black line is the river and where a man stands, is the site that I was speaking about.I hope the map of the river would give you a better picture of what we were talking about. Many thanks.Regards,Yew-Meng.
