If the centre of the house is not accessable (eg, stairways, etc), how can I find the direction of the main door?

Dear Yang Ming,
You can follow the method suggested under this URL:-

Once you had taken the North to South / East to West (basically the four walls) of the house, you can with the use of a protractor; (need to purchase an inexpensive one) and find the direction of the door.
Since the deviation is 15 degrees interval, this should be not difficult in a house.
