Hi Cecil,
Understand from some of your message, it is not aupicious to place the altar directly facing the front door.
I own a 3room resale corner unit, main door at the end of corridor. I have actually plan to place my altar (guan yin for praying) directly facing the main door. If it is not aupicious to face the main door, will it help if I place the altar at an angle so that it will not facing directly.
Thanks.

Dear Peck Wun,
Yes, it is preferred that an altar does not face the main entrance. Here, it is considered disrespectful as you are asking guan yin to guard your door for you.
If you can, (if possible) although the altar can be located facing the main door, where possible, try to see if guan yin be facing towards a wall instead of directly, facing the main door.
Avoid, tilting guan yin but as mentioned above, see if you can allow her to face e.g the wall next to the main entrance. Or alternatively, change the location (if possible)
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
