I have read that the reason a bedroom shouldn't be placed above a garage is because the person would be sleeping above a hollow space and would be drained of energy. Do you think, this makes sense. If yes, would this also hold for building a family room above the garage?
Thanks

Dear Jasmine,
In fact, there are other comments that I had not mentioned about space above a garage:
1. Let's take an example of a building on stilts or stilt type legs. Where the building is above the ground.
Some FS practitioners say that an occasional bad spirit may pass trough the stilted legs of the building, they are said to attack the weakest parts of the building which are the corners of the support beams/legs.
2. Some feel that because there is emptyness below, the structure may not support the entire room upstairs. (This is absurd unless, there is severe structural problem or poor construction material used).
3. There are many of such stories relating to this. Some may argue that during an earthquake (if there should one occurring), such empty structures are the weakest links. However, if it is properly re-inforced with high quality steel support structures, there is no issue here.
4. In my opinion, so far, I have found from my experience, that a room above the garage is just like any other room. And I personally found no evidence to suggest that the hollow space, drains one's energy. Even if it is the bedroom or living room area.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
