Nowadays, it is quite rare to find the Yearly Chinese Alamac or Tung Shu placed above the main door of Chinese homes.
Traditionally, some Chinese would purchase a new Tung Shu (Yearly Chinese Alamac) and place a new copy of it every new year.
It is said that this is to ward off evil and provide good luck.
To understand what I mean, I have chanced upon an apartment....

The Chinese Farmers' Almanac updated yearly and sold close to the 3rd quarter of every year is still in production. It is  known as Tong Shu ( 通 = all 书 = book) literally means the "All-knowing Book". Thus some Chinese today follow the traditions of their ancestors  and keep on placing a greater importance than say the Lunar New Year.

The Tong Shu is produced annually. And often published around the Chinese 7th month.
This copy is for the Lunar year 2015
