Hi Cecil,
I have a Kuan Kung and some Happy Buddha figurines which are red in color. I believe they are made of stones. Can you let me know which elements they belong to? I have been told to avoid using Earth elements in certain part of the house. Thanks!

Dear Kim,
1. Usually figurines are made from clay, ceramic or stone carving.
2. Red represents the fire element.
3. Usually, figurines is considered as belonging to the earth element. And red buddha figurines are considered as belong to a fire-earth combination.
4. Fire earth combination is usually auspicious as compared to a water-earth combination.
5. For the figurines, the attached caricature (not available for mailing list participants - need to use the web forum) has a few advise on the placement of figurines.
6. It is also interesting to note that the coming Lunar New Year beginning on 1st February 2003 in general is a combination of Water (Heavenly stem) with Goat belonging to the Earth element.
Therefore, 2003, can be known as the Water-Goat or Water-Earth Goat Year.
7. During our many talks private and public this year, one can get a glimse of the Year from the attached picture:-

Do take a look at the goat:
7.1 Have you ever personally seen a goat (sheep or ram) snokelling?
7.2 Can a goat swim in the vast water surrounding it....
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Hi Cecil,
You mentioned that the red figurines are considered fire-earth elements, and since I have been told to avoid activating earth elements in my South-West sector, does that mean I need to replace the Kuan Kung and Happy Buddha figurines with one which are made of brass or bronze? These figures are now facing my main door.
Thanks

Dear Kim Lee,
1. Frankly, I am not in the position to comment on the type of Feng Shui advice that was given to you previously.
2. Usually, when we make an accessment, the breadwinner and spouse Ba Zi is looked at:
2.1 For example: What is the husband's Ba Zi element and strength? e.g. husband = weak wood.
2.2 What is the wife's Ba Zi element and strength? Strong metal.
3. In such a situation, the binding element for both partners is water.
4. In the above example since the husband is a weak wood, too much earth element is harmful to him. (Although Earth element is suppose to be his `wealth' element. Note: wealth element is auspicious only if one is a strong wood person, otherwise, it will bring the person lots of problems.
5. At the same time, if the spouse (wife) is a strong metal element, then Earth element is not favourable to her.
6. Since you had already consulted someone about it, it is in your interest to check back the with same party on this matter.
7. In general, usually, it is not advisable to let the figurines face the main door.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
