with the new year approaching, there are many fengshui predictions by various practitioners for each of the chinese zodiac signs, some would go into individual years, can these 'readings' be trusted given some of them do differ in opinions?

Dear Stan,
In my opinion, each animal belongs to a certain set of element.
For example, next year has two relationships:
1. Metal Monkey
2. in the Wood Year (2004).
Under such circumstances, often, many practitioners will apply the Five elements concept to see how well the "Metal Monkey" fit or not-fit with the Wood year.
And as many of are aware, the Five Elements concept is prevalent and the most applied concept, to troubleshoot or explain things (be it a year, a month etc..)
But what is most interesting is that some FS practitioners perhaps, want to have "fame" and would try to predict certain events next year.
If one analyse their "predictions" closely, many will choose very common issues:-
1. WAR!
2. Earthquake
3. New issue: SARs or some illness
For example, many of us are aware that (touch wood) California (LA) has yet to have a earthquake for quite some time, or countries prone to earthquakes like Japan etc...
Often, to make sure that their "predictions" come true, perhaps the practitioner will state at least 5 or 6 calamity. So that, at least, a few would become "true". And thus make them "famous".
Anyway, look at it this way, many of us, do not care as much as our own surroundings. For example, in Singapore, we are more concerned with making money or earning a living. And `not as concerned' with a tornado or earthquake, the other side of the world.
Furthermore, how often, we do see a "road side" astrologer. If they can predict our lives, yet, they are unable to predict a better life for themselves. And end up, doing readings, there and then?
Lets all hope, that there are less "terroism". As it seems to be getting really, really out of hand. It is good if these crazy people, jump down and commit suicide. But, to bring others along, is madness:(((
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
