Some people have told me that it is bad to have a money plant in the office or at home. Is this true? I presently have a money plant at the office and am thinking of having one at home.

Dear Karen,
Studies such as those done by NASA, has shown that having a plant indoors can be beneifical to a home.
Recently, I had posted a link in this forum to a Honeywell Site - which also has some resources on having a plant indoors - and that some plants are more effective than others in `cleansing' the air in a home.
In my opinion, I personally think that there are two reasons why some people do not like having a money plant indoors i.e. home or office:-
Reason 1: Some of us just use a glass plant container, add rocks, to `secure' the roots of the money plant. And simply pour water to this container.
As many of us know, this is an easy option, as we do not need to water the money plant every day. But, if we do not add mosquito pallets or check this container often, it can be a breeding ground for these blood suckers. Which can bring dengue or malaria fever.
Reason 2: Some people consider the money plant a vine. And thus, associate it with plants like the `poison ivy' etc...
In my opinion, reason 1 is the main concern.
But of-course, one can easily plant these money plants to a small pot filled with sand. And this would remedy the problem associated with "Reason 1".
Therefore, othe rthan this, there is no major issue with having indoor plants.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
