i am a metal person. from the 5 elements cycle, i understand that fire is destructive to metal.
does it mean that i cannot wear any red clothes or have anything to do with the colour red?

Dear Sharron,
No, it does not mean that. You can still wear red if you want to.
Five elements is in itself a complex theory. One should try to gain balance
from the various elements. For example, if from the Pillars of Destiny you
find that you lack of Earth. Then the best personal cure to apply is to wear
Earth colour clothings to gain back the balance.
It is like saying a human body, should have a well balance food diet. Too
much of sugar, salt, etc is not good right? But without any sugar and salt,
your body will also complain right? So the essence of the Five Element is to
allow a balance in you. This means that even if a certain amount of element
is bad for you, this does not mean that you shouldn't have any of it.
Fire is bad for Metal, right? So lets say if we do not have Fire, what would
happen?
Then there is nothing to help Earth grow. Remember Earth produces Metal and
Fire produces Earth. So you see, there should still be some element of the
destruction element even though it is bad. But should have sufficient to
help control and not overwhelm them.
As mentioned above, the most important use for the five element cures is to
find the best cure for your birth element.
