Posted September 4, 200421 yr I went nuts with this same issue my house being 1903 ! I never really figured it out, but when I renovated my kitchen I felt the whole energy change. I basically had the rear of the house (where things were really congested before) totally opened up where most of the back wall was gone and the floor of more than 1/3 of the first floor was removed to the joists . This was like that for several days.I hadn't even thought about it til later, but now I used period 8 and also changed facing direction to west from east because it is so much more open to the air and sun in the east now. So read the various methods on when to change but don't discount your intuition also !
