Actually, you can use the many free calculators located at http://www.geomancy-online.com to generate the correct charts.

As to the Chinese zodiac signs, because usually January or February or even as late as March, this is where the new year of the lunar calendar stars.

For exampel in 1997:-

19 Feb 1996 to 6 Feb 1997 = fire rat and

those born

7 Feb 1997 to 27 Jan 1998 = fire ox

This can change the Ba zi element and strength for anyone born between 1 January 1997 to 6 February 1997 if they had wrongly being considered as a fire ox instead of a fire rat.
