Dear robert and cecil,
I read that + shape is considered auspicious.
I needed to know why since to me it seems
+ shape will have 4 corners missing. Please
explain. Thanks.

Usually, when we mention + shape, we generally consider it as a building rather than as a single apartment.
Usually as a building, each unit is at the end of the `corridor'. The centre-point is usually where the lifts and staircase are.
